Maryellen Smolenski holds a master's degree in social work from the University of Kentucky, a master's degree in expressive therapy from the University of Louisville and a bachelor's degree in art and psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. She has 40 years of clinical experience working in residential, in-patient and private practice with groups and individuals. She was an adjunct faculty member serving on thesis review committees, conducting graduate seminars and teaching classes in therapy practice with several local universities.

I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2011 with a Master's Degree in Social Work. I am currently a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Licensed Independent Chemical Addiction Counselor. I have worked in a variety of public and private treatment facility offering both mental health and addiction therapy. I use a combination of therapeutic approaches including: Client Centered, Solution Focused, Trauma-Based, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy, as well as others when indicated.

I am a LISW with psychotherapy experience in both community and private practice settings. I make it a point to be flexible as a therapist because no single approach fits everyone. My post-graduate training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy and I prefer to work with people to address longstanding, intractable patterns that interfere with the client's freedom to love, to work, and to play.
