“Between stimulus and response is the freedom to choose,” Victor E. Frankl. It can be difficult to navigate life when you are feeling stuck. Pain from the past and uncertainty of the future can often create a burden that feels unmanageable. I hold space for those feeling entrapped by life's heaviness. My work as an EMDR trained, Licensed Therapist often draws from an Integrative Therapy Approach. I strongly advocate that it is important to heal past traumas while inspiring wellness and resiliency to live the healthiest life you deserve! It is a privilege to join you on your journey of living your best life!

My focus as a therapist is to assist you in personal healing and discovering your wholeness. Therapy is a process that allows us to reflect, discover, and grow. Often feelings of depression and anxiety, self-esteem and relationship issues, addiction and trauma can block us from feeling "ok", and fully integrated into the life we want. I work from a trauma model, using EMDR to help people heal the pain of adverse childhood experiences.
I see many people who feel their lives are out of control. I know that they have been deeply wounded and need gentle treatment. I'm ready to help you through the battlefield of trauma, frightening experiences, broken trust, and self-loathing that have altered how you view the world, how you approach other people, and how you feel about yourself. Healing is hard work, but is well worth the struggle. However, you should not have to do it alone. Take the first step and seek help, from someone. It shouldn't have to be this hard. Please call our office at 419-874-3201 to find out if we can help you.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) - Level 2, and informed by somatic practices to help clients to go within to help identify and bring healing to parts of themselves.
I am passionate about meeting people where they are physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I believe that each and every person already holds the keys to their own healing, and that I am here to help empower others to identify and utilize the assets that already exist within themselves and their lives. I have striven in my own life, both professionally and personally, to understand how trauma impacts one’s mental health and wellbeing, and have worked to identify what tools and resources exist to heal these traumas.

Aisha provides EMDR therapy, which can help heal trauma, PTSD, panic, anxiety and a range of other symptoms.
“Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you- all of the expectations, all of the beliefs- and becoming who you are.” -Rachel Naomi Remen. While life is often full of beauty, it also comes with uncertainties, challenges and at times, suffering. Aisha believes therapy is an empowering tool for anyone who may be struggling to navigate through life’s challenges, adjusting to present adversity or processing unhealed trauma. Regardless of the struggle you may be facing, Aisha seeks to promote a non-judgemental and relatable approach to assisting others in establishing autonomy.

I work with clients who have issues of grief, depression, various kinds of trauma, including trauma which may be from past lives, sexual abuse trauma, life transitions, aging, near-death experiences, spirituality, spiritual wounding, and spiritual emergency. Although I can help the individual heal and/or cope better with the symptoms or issues they might be experiencing, if the individual is willing to do the deeper soul work, I also want to help that person find the meaning of those symptoms and issues, and in finding that meaning, begin to experience spiritual transformation and growth - new life.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
