Together, we can sort out your challenges and plan to move beyond them. You are not alone. Life can be so hard sometimes, and the demands of family and jobs can feel overwhelming. Striving for perfection can leave us feeling guilty and exhausted. The things we turn to for comfort—such as food, alcohol, or other substances—can be harmful in the long run. Echoes of past traumas can be intrusive, but therapy can give you a chance to take a deep breath and sort out the answers that lie within. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and open setting.

I am an independently licensed, clinical counselor that started working in the field in 1997. Having worked with various populations from abused women and children, to addicted teens and adults, I have developed an immense compassion for people and their struggles. In working with both adults and youth, and helping families to grow and learn, my overarching hope in seeing people in a therapy setting is to help them gain a greater sense of well being and contentment.

Therapy is a journey and can be hard for those who put others before themselves to make the jump. These behaviors can create difficulty including anxiety, fear-based thoughts, and depression which can hold anyone back. I work with those who are hesitant to express disagreement for fear of losing the support or approval of others and as a result, lack self-confidence and awareness of their own needs. I work to reduce shame, feelings of guilt, and increase self-confidence using an eclectic style to help bring more assertiveness in relationships and alleviate these behaviors to help you be more confident and secure in yourself.

Providing education and facts surrounding sex, intimacy, and relationships is so important, especially when it was absent or shrouded in fear, shame, or mystery while growing up. Too many of us have received inaccurate or little information about sex and our bodies. I want to provide a space for you to explore and understand how sex and intimacy fit in with who you are now to promote safety, pleasure, and connection. I am EMDR Certified Therapist and an EMDR Consultant-In-Training and am in the process of completing my Sex Therapist Certification.

Is your sex life struggling? I'm passionate about working with clients who want to improve their relationships and sex. Most often, I work with clients who want to overcome sexual challenges such as erectile dysfunction, low/mismatched libido, and sexual pain. Aside from sex therapy, I treat other general concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions. I also help clients work through trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Are you looking to strengthen your relationship? As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my goal is to create a space where relationships can learn to thrive. The approach I take in therapy is first and foremost a client-centered and strengths-based approach. Therapy is not ‘one size fits all’ so we will work towards your specific goals at your pace. I believe every client and relationship has innate strengths and abilities that will help them achieve their goals- I work to help you maximize those strengths and abilities.

What would more joy and satisfaction in life be worth to you? Many people walk this planet unaware of their own intentions, and motives. They are subjective to life and life simply "happens to them." Through nonjudgmental, therapeutic exploration and approaches, I challenge and empower my clients to know themselves, to know God (their faith), so they can better understand and interpret their world and the people in it. Stop letting life happen to you and start showing up purposefully each and every day. I consider it an ultimate honor to walk people through this process. Give me a call today! I look forward to hearing from you.

The dictionary defines "wayward" as difficult, headstrong, or disobedient. As a slang term, however, wayward often refers to someone who doesn't conform to what's "typical," and who forges their own unique path. My goal as a therapist is to help you find your best and most authentic self, whatever that means for you.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
