Are you interested in counseling with a faith perspective? Are you mad at God for the situation you are in? Whether you go to church weekly or simply believe in a power greater than yourself, I'll meet you where you're at on the journey and walk with you. We can talk about faith directly or simply let Christian values guide our sessions. Life can be overwhelming whether you are a teenager managing social anxiety and making new friends or an adult going through the loss of a loved one. We all struggle with life at some point and reaching out for help can be overwhelming so know I understand this and want to help.

Do you feel stuck in your life? You’d like to think that trauma you experienced in the past is in the rearview mirror. But perhaps you know all too well that it still affects you now and you need help to heal from it. Maybe that anxiety around you feeling not good enough drives you to be a high achiever, but you feel constantly stressed and overwhelmed. You might be questioning if you can ever reconnect with your partner the way you used to in the beginning due to problems with communication, intimacy, or a past affair.

I work with individuals facing various challenges, often dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma. They seek a safe space to explore their thoughts and emotions without judgment. People come to me wanting to develop healthier coping mechanisms, improve self-esteem, and build better relationships. They aim to understand themselves better and create positive changes. Those I work with are typically motivated but feeling stuck. They're looking for guidance to navigate their journey toward healing and growth and are open to new strategies for improving their mental health.

I have advanced training in Internal Family Systems and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I am trained to target emotional experiences to activate internal healing and external connection. I assist couples by facilitating an environment that safely moves folks towards security in self and towards one another in vulnerability so that bonding can replace the need for self-preservation. With individuals, I welcome all parts of each person as one establishes security in and expansion of self which helps parts of self recognize: "parts cope, self heals." I view people as "stuck" and not "sick," and therefore I believe just as there is a healer in me, there is a healer in you.

At The Care Center I help clients dealing with issues including depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, previous traumas, and life adjustment issues. I also help marriages or couples dealing with infidelity, blended family issues, conflict, communication issues, and couples in crisis. My philosophy is to find the roots of the problems and resolve them rather than simply helping learn awkward coping skills. At The Care Center you won't learn empathic/active listening, I statements or deep breathing techniques. We work on healing wounds and rebuilding trust. When you do these things you don't need more "coping skills."

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
