Are you tired of making the same decisions and choices over and over again? Do you wonder why you do that, when you clearly don’t want to? I can help you put the puzzle pieces together and figure out the WHY. Coping skills are wonderful things to have and to use, but figuring out the why reduces your need for them. Let me help you figure out your why.

I specialize in helping women heal from the deep emotional and trauma wounds of their childhood.
9/23/24-Accepting New Clients. Your painful childhood trauma has left you feeling broken and isolated. As a woman who longs for freedom from the past, you struggle to find a way forward and build the life you desire. The constant tug-of-war between people-pleasing and living authentically is exhausting. You yearn for balance and healthy relationships, yet question what "healthy" truly looks like, especially when it was never modeled for you. You might even be curious about EMDR therapy, wondering if it could be the key to unlocking the healing you’ve been searching for.

Never underestimate the power of your story and know that your voice matters!I believe that counseling is a process of telling ones story. I treat children, adolescents and adults facing anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, family conflict, peer relationships, self esteem, coping strategies and more. I specifically have worked with children through early adulthood and families for over 18 years. I believe we all have mental health and that our health is on a spectrum. Sometimes we need a little extra guidance, help and support. And I look forward to helping you with this!

My therapy style is empathetic, insightful, reflective, humorous and goal-affirming. I have always had a "quirky" sense of humor and I love that I can bring that into session with me. Sometimes being able to laugh or to see the absurdity of life shakes loose the obstacles and anxiety. My initial goal is to connect with you and your experiences in your world, ask questions, provide feedback, and use interventions to rebuild and reinforce your sense of self and your place in the universe.

I serve clients who want to gain self insight. This often gives clients relief from depression and anxiety because they have discovered their triggers, thought patterns and internal beliefs that have lead them to their presenting symptoms. I love serving couples who struggle with communication and have a desire to feel connected and "seen" by their partner.

As your therapist, it’s my job to meet you where you’re at. What are you hoping to get out of therapy? We will identify goals and work together to achieve them. Whether you’ve been in therapy for years or this is your first session, we will work together to figure out what will be most beneficial. Therapy sessions can look a variety of ways. Maybe it’s processing a recent trauma, other times identifying and breaking unhealthy patterns. Our sessions will be a safe space where we can learn coping skills, build a better relationship with yourself and your body, figure out effective tactics for managing stress/anxiety, and more.

As Rupi Kuar writes, “If you were born with the strength to fall, you were born with the strength to rise.” Often, we forget that phases are temporary when we are down. We all know where we “want” to be, and sometimes need an extra perspective into getting us there. Whether you are freshly beginning college, struggling to find a work/life balance, or experiencing burnout, working through stressors can be difficult to face alone. Practicing from a person-centered and holistic approach, I enjoy working alongside my clients to develop personalized goals to allow room for their growth and healing.

Are you a stressed out parent? Hate your job? Maybe you are having conflict in a relationship. Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
