My name is Mary and I have been working with clients and families for over 20 years. My focus is on strength-based therapy and meeting clients where they are currently in their lives.My focus is to help empower others to find the best version of themselves thru mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and by helping to build better coping and self care. Life can be hard, very hard and often unfair.

Having coped with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and PTSD throughout my life, counseling is not just a profession for me; it is an opportunity to share the skills that I use every day. My personal journey with mental health challenges gives me empathy and understanding, enriching my ability to connect with others who are struggling. I specialize in seeing clients who struggle with over-controlled personality types. Do you work too much? Want things to be perfect? Strongly dislike being out of control of situations? Or feel like you have to do things in order for them to be done correctly? My ideal client is simply a client looking to learn and grow. I have treated such a wide variety of diagnoses and people from all over the country. I am open to most clients as long as they are adults.

From my experience, I can see how challenging a Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis can be on a person, & working with someone open to learning new skills to manage it better can be very rewarding! I am here to assist with any life transitions, relationship issues, grief, or OCD/phobias that are preventing you from your goals.

I enjoy working with people who struggle with depression and/or anxiety. Ideally, their goals would be to improve their overall functioning and quality of life. My ideal client would be able to put in the necessary work to accomplish their goals. My therapy style is authentic, empathetic, and validating. I believe in incorporating various treatment modalities that are based on the individual needs of my clients.

There is a curious habit that I've noticed, especially when working with teens, that clients will mostly only work on the "issue of the week." This can have numerous benefits and can also delay the client's progress on any underlying concerns or patterns. Ideally, once a client has agreed to their treatment goals, they continue to take attainable steps towards that goal in therapy and in their daily life. When a client feels comfortable with their therapist to share their thoughts, emotions, and vulnerabilities, then deeper work can happen.

I am comfortable working with clients from nearly any age bracket, cultural background or socioeconomic group. As an LGBTQ Ally, I am accepting of and welcome clients of any gender or identity. I am experienced working with families, individuals and couples. I am especially experienced in working with clients struggling with chronic pain and illness, as well as trauma, depression and anxiety. I work to develop a solid therapeutic relationship, which encourages a foundation of trust. Then I help utilizing integrative and personalized interventions.

I have worked in healthcare since 2000 and clinical mental health counseling since 2018. I work best with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and parenting. I specialize in working with new mothers, people with Type I Diabetes, parents of those with T1D, parents, teachers and marginalized communities. I believe in the power of building strong connections with clients and listen intently with deep respect for each client. I use an integrative approach with creative interventions that depend on clients’ needs.
