Do you feel like your past is always causing you to fail in the present? Do you want to get better? And are you sick of just talking about the problems without solutions or change? I work with individuals to help them find hope again when they feel all hope has been lost. Together, we can identify your barriers to reaching your goals and tackle them head on. We will use a wholistic approach to address the mind, body, and spirit. I use a Biblical approach for addressing issues while also using mindfulness and trauma therapy. I find that I do my best work when Internal Family Systems (IFS) is the primary modality being used and techniques from CBT, EMDR and Mindfulness are being used to support the healing/growing process.
Taking the step to engage in therapy takes courage. It shows that you value yourself and your relationships enough to heal and improve your way of being in the world. I work with clients every week who are wanting to live into the best version of themselves. I see them putting in the work, healing and transforming. I meet clients where they are at. We can work as slowly or as intensively as you would like. I place great emphasis on clients feeling safe within the context of our relationship.

I focus on the person, and what will work for you! I have seen wonderful results with using sand therapy, mindfulness and other non-traditional methods.
The entire world has been changed, seemingly overnight. Please reach out if you need to talk to someone. Ever wake up in the morning and said to yourself, "I cannot keep doing this", only to find yourself doing the very thing you swore off only four hours ago? If you have said this to yourself, you have probably been surfing the internet for a cure for addictions, or how to quit drinking so much, or how to make it through detox. Addictions are insufferable. I have been working in the field for 13 years with mental health and addiction issues.

I am passionate about the next generation. Children, adolescents, and young adults have a plethora of information overloading their minds and bodies daily. Often, this information causes sensory overload and produces feelings of distress that manifest as depression, anxiety, social isolation, disconnection, and much more.

Are you feeling lost in a world that used to feel familiar? Do you feel like you are in a fog, going through the motions but not really engaging? Have you felt overwhelmed by how much there is to do that you haven't been able to let yourself grieve? Some days you may feel like you can tackle that to-do list, and other days the reality hits you like a sucker-punch to the gut.

In addition to a safe, nonjudgmental space, I can help you in growth areas, whether it be mental health (ADHD, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety), relationship struggles, cultural issues, attachment difficulties, past trauma and/or divorce. I use reflective listening and empathy, and can aid you in working through your thought and emotion patterns (using both CBT (cognitive-behavior therapy) and EFT (emotionally-focused therapy). A passion of mine is to help empower people to be the best version of themselves to have a voice, learn how to be their authentic self and navigate culture.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
