I am passionate about the next generation. Children, adolescents, and young adults have a plethora of information overloading their minds and bodies daily. Often, this information causes sensory overload and produces feelings of distress that manifest as depression, anxiety, social isolation, disconnection, and much more.

But don't worry, we'll peel back those layers together, turning tears into laughter, and making progress.
My perfect client has got issues like a collector's edition comic book, needs like a never-ending buffet, and goals higher than a giraffe's daydreams! They want to talk more than an over-caffeinated parrot, and they'll bring enough juicy stories to fill a soap opera marathon.

So, I have helped countless people with sadness and depression, stress and anxiety.
My approach is individualized and designed for you to achieve your goals in the shortest possible time, while building the foundation for lasting improvements. In our first meeting together, we'll talk about what brings you to counseling, what you want to accomplish, and barriers you’ve had with what you have already tried. I understand that in the first meeting you will be deciding if you think I can help you. So, as I get to know you and gather information, I make a point to be present, share my initial thoughts and pose questions in order for you to build that confidence.

I am open to working with clients who are focusing on sobriety/substance abuse as well as those suffering from loneliness, depression, isolation, anxiety or are going through a transition.
Hi there, welcome to my profile! I have been working with adults with mental health and substance abuse issues for nearly 5 years. Prior to this, I served as a counselor to children with developmental disabilities and their families. My approach with clients is very empathetic and client centered. I think of myself as a guide who provides a safe and affirmative space for people to explore feelings and thoughts they might otherwise not reveal or share with others. In this way, I believe that the client-therapist relationship can create a launching point to help clients create the changes they want in their lives.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
