I work with adults with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, personal and professional transitions and grief.
I provide short-term and long-term adult psychotherapy with the goal of helping you improve your personal, family and work lives. I view psychotherapy as a process of exploration in which together we look at what doesn't seem to be working in your life, what you would like to change, and how you might be able to accomplish that.

Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you are struggling in a society that places so much value on independence. I’m proud of you for taking the first steps toward asking for help and sharing your story - it’s brave of you to be here. I approach therapy from a compassionate, person-centered perspective, and draw from an eclectic range of therapeutic interventions. As a queer therapist I have a special interest in providing an affirming space for those in the LGBTQIA+ community, and I welcome adults seeking letters for gender affirming medical care.

I am committed to providing a sex-positive and affirming space for LGBTQ+, non-binary, kinky, ethically non-monogamous, and fat clients.
For many of us, anxiety, depression, and life stressors can be thought of like a wave that we ride throughout our lives. Sometimes the surf is good, and we can do so easily. Other times it might be choppy, and we have to use our resources and know-how to stay afloat. In bad times, it can feel like the waves are pulling you under. As a therapist, I strive to help clients navigate uncertain tides by processing these experiences together, drawing on their strengths, and improving coping skills.

As a queer & nonbinary therapist (they/them pronouns), I'm committed to providing an affirming and sex-positive space for queer and transgender clients, and folks in ethically non-monogamous relationships and kink communities.
I have openings now! My priority is to create space for you to feel welcome to share your stressors, goals, and experiences, and feel heard and affirmed. We will focus on your whole self - your environment, relationships, and history - and how these impact your perspective and sense of self. I enjoy working with adults managing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, and relationship concerns. My goal is to invite others who have marginalized identities to feel both safe and challenged in my (virtual) office, and to build the skills and confidence they need to grow into the version of themselves they hope to be.

My work focuses on interpersonal and community relationships, grief, boundary setting, and life transitions.
I think the basis for good therapy is a collaborative relationship that fosters an environment for healing and growth. I'm passionate about working with people navigating life transitions, and about supporting people navigating grief and loss. Whether you're about to graduate from college, contemplating parenthood, or struggling with career transitions, I'd love to talk with you about how you can feel empowered and make the best choices for you.

So many of us have had to disconnect from ourselves to survive in some way, often due difficult experiences that overwhelmed our capacity to cope. As a result, you may be finding that the way you relate to yourself is negatively impacting how you show up in your life and relationships. Perhaps you find yourself engaging in patterns that are harming you despite efforts to stop—leaving you feeling stuck, alone, or even broken. I'm here to help you find new ways of relating to yourself and equip you with tools for coping more effectively. Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, we will work together to find healing.

My clinical expertise is in supporting the LGBTQIAA+ community.
Supporting growth in self-awareness helps us lean into who we are, accept ourselves, and look at growth edges that may be painful or scary. As a therapist, I encourage my clients to achieve better ways of engaging with problems of living and improve personal well-being by expanding self-awareness and developing interpersonal communication skills. I practice from a clinical, Gestalt-oriented, developmental lens with evidence-based approaches, to support clients where they are and as they engage in the therapeutic process.

You know there's something wrong but aren't certain how to fix it. Or you know you "should be" doing certain things but can't quite seem to manage to do them. You've tried a lot of different things, some of them helped a bit for a while and some of them didn't seem to help much at all, or made it even worse. I help individuals who want to feel satisfied with their lives but instead feel overwhelmed, out of control, and stuck in the same place no matter what they do.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
