I am currently accepting new clients to help overcome anxiety, OCD, and depression working through the lens of trauma-informed care and LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
Are you exhausted by thoughts constantly dragging you down the rabbit hole of "what if", with each new thought bringing you closer to intense catastrophe? Do you feel yourself in a constant state of panic, picturing the worst possible outcome? Do you struggle to tame your anxious thinking and find yourself sweaty with an elevated heart rate and a pit in your stomach? Or maybe, you even might perform compulsive behaviors to help make yourself feel better, but the true relief you're seeking, never fully comes? Do these anxieties (social, health, trauma, relational, parental, etc.) keep you from living the life you want?

I have particular experience working with those with OCD from this approach.
I specialize in helping LGBTQ+ people heal from the impacts of trauma. Using EMDR and other trauma and attachment focused techniques, I work with clients who's experiences of sexual or relationship trauma, difficult family relationships, marginalization, and more, have shaped how they see themselves and the world. As a queer, non-binary, trans person, I offer an environment where you don't have to "explain" your queerness, nor choose between a queer therapist and a trauma-focused one. My approach is relational and based in the power of authenticity, acceptance, and attachment.

An expert in anxiety and OCD, he excels in cases unresponsive to conventional treatments.
If you or your child are suffering from an OCD or an anxiety disorder you are not alone. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness and yet most sufferers do not have access effective treatment. The good news is that if you or your loved one is troubled with unwanted thoughts or worries, physical symptoms due to anxiety, perfectionism, phobias, health fears, or any other anxiety there is help. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and more specifically exposure therapy has repeatedly shown to be the most effective approach for defeating anxiety and OCD.

I work exceptionally well with individuals who suffer from OCD, anxiety, panic, and intrusive thoughts.
Do you feel like you've lost your sense of you? Anxiety can often keep us from enjoying or even participating in our lives. Do you feel like you are existing but not living? Is avoidance your best friend? Maybe intrusive thoughts are increasing the anxiety. Maybe, a disturbing thought crosses your mind and you think, "Why would I have a thought like that? This is not who I am." Maybe you can't sleep, you're exhausted, and you miss yourself... the real you. The most important relationship you will ever have is with yourself; nurture the relationship, grow, and evolve.

If you are struggling with ADHD, a major life change, OCD, relationship issues, or coping with stress and anxiety it can be frustrating.
If you have ADHD or something close (i.e. OCD, anxiety, depression, and/or relationship issues), you might find everyday life events to be incredibly overwhelming (even simple work tasks and chores). You might notice that life events like starting a new job or committing to an academic major might challenge your sense of identity, disrupt your routines, and cause you to question our goals and values. You might find that you're procrastinating, losing track of appointments, and forgetting things you should remember. Sometimes it’s easy to feel stuck, lost, or helpless.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
