The level of Christian perspective involved in your sessions will depend on your own faith journey! As you set goals and work through challenges aligned in faith, psychotherapeutic strategies from CBT, ACT, DBT and others will be learned.
Your life feels heavy, hopeless, chaotic and out of control. Your mind is racing, you're exhausted from people-pleasing and your self-confidence is at an all-time low. Anxiety, depression, and stress are ruling your life, and it feels as if you may never feel peace again. You struggle with guilt, comparison, and nothing ever feels like it is enough. You have thoughts that you could never say out loud to friends and family, all the while desperate for support. You need to find yourself. Maybe you know God, maybe you are in question about who God is, or maybe it hurts to even think about God. There's so much you need to sort out.

I specialize in using skills from Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
Most of us have been there: spinning our wheels trying to outrun our past, struggling to get out of bed and make it through the day, internally crippling under the weight of just so many thoughts and expectations, struggling to just feel like yourself from one day to the next. If you’re tired of fighting these battles alone, I want to help. As a mental health therapist, my goal is to help clients overcome trauma, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders.

I use techniques from Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, CBT, and DBT modalities, which can help people from a wide variety of different backgrounds.
My philosophy of counseling is simple: finding purpose in the pain. There is pain behind every experience of a mental health struggle. My goal as a counselor is to help my clients know that: (1) they are not alone in the pain, (2) it is okay to feel the pain-related feelings, (3) they can learn how to regulate that pain emotionally, and (4) they can use their pain to learn more about themselves to achieve further mastery over their lives.

It's been a while since you have felt like yourself. Every day is a struggle and you often wonder when things will be normal again. You find your mind racing, while fear robs you of a hopeful tomorrow. You feel like you have tried everything to bring peace and comfort to your situation, but the problems seem to be growing day by day. You ask yourself how things have progressed to this point? Depression and anxiety seem to rule your next step and have zapped you of any hope you have for tomorrow. The journey has been long and difficult and you’re tired and want to see changes happen.

Life can be challenging, and I want to recognize the courageous steps you are taking to seeking counseling. Often, we can feel overwhelmed when dealing with difficult situations and emotions. We may develop patterns of coping that lead us to feel stuck or isolated, particularly when we struggle with symptoms of anxiety and depression. If you hope to explore and process these feelings, patterns, and situations and find more adaptive ways to cope, I would be honored to support you along the way. I believe that each client is on a unique journey and that, together, we can find a positive, therapeutic path.

Every day seems overwhelming, and often finding a few minutes to focus on your own needs seems impossible, it can feel as if you may never be happy again. Some days it takes everything you have to get through the day, and you wonder, "is this the best my life is going to be?" In the morning it takes all that you have to get out of bed, and at night, you lay awake, unable to sleep, due to worry, fear, and feeling things are just hopeless. It can be scary to reach out to a counselor, you just want to find someone who understands and doesn't judge. Experiencing depression or anxiety is nothing to be ashamed of, it isn't your fault.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
