Are you interested in counseling with a faith perspective? Are you mad at God for the situation you are in? Whether you go to church weekly or simply believe in a power greater than yourself, I'll meet you where you're at on the journey and walk with you. We can talk about faith directly or simply let Christian values guide our sessions. Life can be overwhelming whether you are a teenager managing social anxiety and making new friends or an adult going through the loss of a loved one. We all struggle with life at some point and reaching out for help can be overwhelming so know I understand this and want to help.

I specialize in PTSD/issues related to abuse and trauma, addiction treatment (chemical and behavioral), grief, mood disorders, LGBT, and women's issues, and take the approach of walk-and-talk counseling in the forest for somatic healing and offer telehealth counseling sessions.
Trauma symptoms can take many forms: a low hum of depression or depression that keeps you in bed for days, crippling anxiety, self-doubt, constant negative thinking, substance abuse, dysfunctional family relationships... or just a feeling of "lost", "hopeless", "stuck" or "worthless". The truth is that we are subject to trauma just by experiencing life that we weren't prepared for, and it can look like a lot of things: a change of jobs...a death in the family...COVID, or serious abuse. If you're looking for an alternative, holistic approach to healing trauma, please reach out.

Currently accepting new clients. Seeking help can be overwhelming and is a process that requires courage and strength. Vulnerability can be scary, but it can also be the catalyst for growth and help us live out the most authentic version of ourselves. I am passionate about helping others live happier, healthier, and more productive lives. I practice with the belief that people are capable of more than they think and that everyone has the capacity to change. Although people may come to therapy to address a variety of concerns, the overall goal is to live a more successful life.

Finding the “right fit” in therapy can be overwhelming and time-consuming. Healing is possible, and it shouldn't take a lifetime to get there! My primary focus is to create a safe and supportive space while promoting individual and/or posttraumatic growth. My goal is to empower you to share your stories and encourage healing from those experiences, by using a combination of deep listening, CBT/DBT, narrative exposure therapy and other evidence-based modalities for profound and lasting change.

It is with much admiration and respect that I engage with clients in the journey to wellness. As a therapist, I have always believed in the strength of the individual to heal. I have a depth of knowledge in how trauma impacts individuals. It is part of who we are, but doesn’t need to define us. It can be difficult to seek help when things seem overwhelming and that is why I have always tried to create a warm, compassionate and safe environment for clients so they can feel accepted wherever they might be in their journey of self discovery and growth. I have been a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor since 1998.

One unique specialty I have is working with neurodivergent individuals, whether it be autism, ADHD, trauma, etc. I am both autistic and ADHD myself, and have an autistic child. This puts me in a unique position to truly understand what parents may be struggling with, but also offer a different perspective from your neurotypical therapist. My ideal clientele consist of neurodivergent individuals, parents raising autistic children, and family members of neurodivergent individuals. I am a very laid back therapist, but also firm on boundaries and in necessary parts of treatment.

NARCISSISTIC EMOTIONAL/Psychological abuse & IPV! Dealing with an abusive, hostile, high-profile professional, threatening the entire ecological system of yr life? Your partner, spouse, boss, co-worker, family member? Putting you down and/or threatening you & in the next breath telling you how much they love you? Are you drained, devalued, debilitated to exhaustion? Trivial demands? Isolation? Are you smothered? Is your hair falling out? Are your adrenals pumping? Are you denied sleep? Devouring your will is what the abuser wants so they can control. You must not have any space or feel emotion in the relationship: especially anger.

I am passionate about helping clients learn to love themselves in their current space. Life is hard and unpredictable and all of us come to points in our life where we need some extra help. Maybe you are finding yourself at a crossroad in life and are struggling to identify where to turn. Maybe you are wrestling with ongoing depression and anxiety that is beginning to feel debilitating. Maybe you are grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a dream, or an old way of thinking. Wherever you are, if you have found yourself here, you have identified that you need support and I would love to meet you in that space.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
