I work with individual adults and couples on the changes they'd like to see in their lives, whether it be addressing stress, conflict, depression, behavioral concerns, fears and worries, loss, anger, recovery, the past, parenting, or simply wanting to continue growing emotionally. I approach therapy with great compassion and respect for those who seek it. I provide a safe space to talk about whatever's on your mind. I offer short-term practical help as well as more in-depth exploration.

Do you often feel stuck in your head, replaying the same situations over and over? Do you have the thought that you have one foot stuck in the past? Trauma and difficult life experiences can leave us feeling anxious, depressed and disengaged with life. Even positive experiences may be filtered through negative beliefs, causing us to doubt their validity. Trauma can affect every aspect of our life, from our ability to manage feelings, have fulfilling relationships with others and ourselves to our ability to live healthy lives.

Whether you are experiencing loss or are just trying to navigate the world, I will walk alongside you and help you figure it out.
Are you feeling lost in a world that used to feel familiar? Do you feel like you are in a fog, going through the motions but not really engaging? Have you felt overwhelmed by how much there is to do that you haven't been able to let yourself grieve? Some days you may feel like you can tackle that to-do list, and other days the reality hits you like a sucker-punch to the gut. Finding your new normal is a hard and often lonely journey.

I've had 30 years of experience in helping others who struggle with anxiety, depression, Bipolar, premarital and marital issues, pregnancy and postpartum depression, grief and loss, chronic or life threatening illnesses, relationship and blended family issues, career counseling, divorce recovery as well as trauma and post traumatic stress.
Like so many of us, life has had some unexpected twists and turns. Whether you are grieving, sensing a growing distance with your spouse, having trouble taking care of your family, struggling to form meaningful relationships, recovering from a divorce or break up, unsure how to help your adult children, experiencing mood swings, struggling with work or school, relocating, struggling with pregnancy or learning that being a mom or dad is a lot harder than you imagined, I can help you feel less overwhelmed and more fulfilled. My goal is to help you feel better by providing direct, honest, respectful, and supportive feedback.

I serve children (age 9+), adults, and couples with difficulties including but not limited to, relationship concerns, mood disorders, trauma, grief, self-esteem, anger, and life transitions.
Currently Accepting New Clients. As someone who has been in the client chair before, I understand how difficult it can be to decide whether counseling is the right first step for you or how intimidating it is to discuss life’s hardships with another person. However, I can also attest to the benefits that counseling can produce in one’s life if given the proper time, effort, and care. Mental health is an integral component of overall health and well-being, and my goal as a counselor is to ease people through tough transition periods and to assist in cultivating meaningful lives.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
