I specialize in providing integrated EMDR to LGBTQ+ youth and adults, who are struggling with complex trauma and feeling disturbed by painful past experiences. They most often feel like they are a burden, incompetent or often find themselves endlessly ruminating over worst case scenarios. Therapy is initiated when they realize that they are ready to stop spiraling and begin experiencing a sense of grounding and connection. There has been an acknowledgement that they do not have to stay stuck. Their desire to feel confident, secure, and live authentically outweighs the fear to work through their pain.

I practice trauma-informed Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Gestalt therapies, as well as body based mindfulness because our emotions, fears, and wounds are as much in our bodies as they are in our minds.
I work with adults & couples who feel anxiety, overwhelm, and shame (sometimes like an 'imposter') in their lives, as well as with those who want to learn how to have healthier conflict in order to feel more secure in their romantic relationships. I help you better understand your emotions, practice boundary setting, balance control with acceptance, and learn how to re-regulate your nervous system. In addition to therapy, I also offer financial coaching to individuals/couples who feel overwhelmed by money stress and want to feel more secure in their financial wellbeing by exploring the emotional & psychological aspects of money.

While I draw from relational, psychodynamic, internal family systems and cognitive behavioral approaches, I find that the therapeutic relationship itself is key to healing.
Fred Rogers said, "What is mentionable, is manageable." I consistently find this to be true. Our thoughts and feelings can seem insurmountable when they stay in our minds and there is something wonderful about how verbal release can be powerfully unburdening. I love helping people find relief, clarity and hope.

I have extensive experience using CBT, IFS, Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed therapy.
Therapy can feel like an elusive concept, one that supposedly provides a solution for emotional struggles if you do it the “right way.” I believe in an individualized approach to therapy, because there is no “right way”; there is only the way that makes the most sense for you. In this regard, I may use different modalities, but more importantly I will use what I learn about you to help us collaborate effectively on your mental health. I have experience working with a diverse range of people, including the LGBTQ+ community, current and former sex workers, and both adolescents and adults.

After observing the prevalence of trauma, and its impact on daily lives, I undertook training in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Some people come into therapy knowing exactly what they want, while others come in with a vague sense that something is wrong; But most people are coming in to find relief; from anxiety, depression, work/life stress, relationship issues, parenting, or trauma, to name a few. My approach is collaborative, pragmatic and flexible. I focus on creating a safe environment by actively and empathically listening, while also providing valuable and straightforward feedback. I integrate a number of different modalities; elements of dynamic and cognitive therapies, as well as specialized treatments like EMDR and Internal Family Systems.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist passionate about helping women, parents, and couples learn how to meet their genuine needs, care for themselves, and build a life that feels authentic and joyful. My practice focuses on breaking distressing cycles and patterns where one learned to disconnect from their own needs and emotions often to prioritize the needs of others. I work with individuals who may be struggling in relationships or life transitions, self-critical, unsure of next steps in building the life they want, feeling triggered and overwhelmed by parenting, or couples stuck in cycles of arguing and feeling disconnected.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
