What is weighing heavily on your heart? What stories are playing on repeat and bringing you down? What have you been tolerating or avoiding for far too long? Let's not try to fix anything, let's just be curious and take the time you need to be fully heard and understood. I would like to help you gain a deeper understanding about what is happening in your life. I will meet you where you are and gently guide you on your inner journey to find what brings you inner peace and harmony. I hope you'll let me be your guide and offer you my kindness, wisdom and expertise developed over many years, both personally and professionally.

As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) I believe that creativity and access to our imagination is an essential tool for self-discovery, transformation and health. When we become stuck in life, these tend to be the first tools that we lose access to. I have a body-centered, trauma-informed, holistic and individualized approach that also recognizes that we are each impacted by the communities and systems that we are part of. I enjoy collaborating with clients to help you find agency in your own healing process and become your own visionary in hard times.

I am accepting clients for weekend retreats and in person clients between the hours of 1pm-3pm Monday -Thursday. I have several years of experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. My specialty is providing treatment of anger problems, PTSD, mood disorders and anxiety disorders. My approach is client centered. I draw from several different theoretical models, but my focus is on developing a therapeutic relationship that connects clients to their inner strength and hones their ability to adapt.

Holistic therapy has the power to uplift lives. Over the past 30 years, I've seen people transform more quickly, deeply, and with longer lasting results by combining talk therapy with mind-body approaches. Clients describe living with more confidence, joy, peace and authenticity, and having a greater sense of agency in their lives. Learn to let go of limiting beliefs and behaviors, become more attuned to your body, and become more of who you want to be. I can help you reduce anxiety, stress and the effects of grief and trauma, as well as guide you through a life transition to find greater meaning, purpose and passion in your life.

If you are seeking to regain who you once were, uncover who you know you could be, become who you want to be, build on who you already are, or all the above, we can do that together. Life is something that just is; we are what happens in it. I work with you to reclaim what may seem out of your control, to step back into the driver's seat of your own life. We all struggle at times and it is not about how strong or weak we are, but how much support we have.

"Get busy living, or get busy dying." If you haven't seen Shawshank Redemption, maybe you should. Maybe it's just me, but reading all the profiles here seems a bit tedious since we are all essentially saying the same things. As an Army Veteran and a solution-focused pragmatist, I like to cut to the chase. The bottom line is that we've ALL survived something in our lives and fall into one of two basic categories; either those who just don't die or those who come back to living. So which category are you in?

I believe in our capacity to challenge and navigate away from unhealthy patterns. I support my clients in cultivating awareness and guide them in the healing process by drawing on innate strengths and resilience. I encourage clients to think of human beings as organisms, of body and of mind, that live in relationship with others and with our environment. As such, growth is our natural state. We are meant to grow, to act fluidly and adapt creatively throughout our lives and we suffer when that process is blocked or interrupted. However, our suffering can provide an opportunity to grow in new and exciting ways.

I am passionate about my work as a therapist and coach and deeply committed to supporting people to live from the fullness of who they are. My work is informed by my gestalt training and feminine power leadership coaching training with over 30 years experience in other somatic and experiential disciplines. I am interested in working with people who are committed to a process of awakening to their fullest potential and aligning with their authentic essential nature. My approach seeks to shift us from a place of isolation to one of connection and collaboration through embodied relational engagement.

I work well with couples and individuals. My personal experience with meditation and mindfulness and extensive training in various modalities is front and center for guiding clients towards a balanced, self regulated and awesome life. I am a trained IMAGO therapist (Harville Hendrix's work). Clients/couples who suffer from anxiety, despair and depression will find my practice not only helpful but enlivening. I consider healing through the lens of a wellness model and not a pathological one. Sometimes it's the greatest struggle that brings about the greatest positive change.

There is something so valuable about every person having a space that is their own, and to feel safe enough to say and feel whatever comes up for them in that space. I work from these core beliefs: That curiosity leads to understanding, creativity + play can heal, and comfort is something many of us could use more of these days.

When moving through life's difficulties, it can be hard to remember our innate goodness, let alone act from that place to meet the challenges of these complex times. Clients come to me with a variety of concerns - anxiety, relationship struggles, depression, and the real stress of simply being human in such uncertain times. This journey is about feeling better, and it's also about evolving and deepening our relationship with ourselves, our loved ones, and the whole world.

Getting support is more important than ever. I help clients adjust to change, including loss, overcome difficulties with relationships of all kinds, address attachment issues, PTSD, and anxiety. I work collaboratively—a strong connection between therapist and client is the foundation of good therapy. Listening deeply to clients, I draw on 40 years as a somatic practitioner (incl. 10 years as a massage therapist) and use intuition, empathy, compassion, and humor to help guide the process. I integrate proven and effective mind-body techniques to alleviate chronic stress and pain and achieve wellness through life-style changes.

I offer an integrative approach to growth and healing using traditional talk therapy and body-centered modalities. My work honors the wholeness of each person and their innate power to heal themselves. I strive to create a safe and courageous environment where the qualities of curiosity, acceptance, and compassion are present. I appreciate that race, gender, sexual orientation, class, and other identities impact our life experience. I am attentive to social traumas, and support clients in healing such wounds to live more freely. I know first-hand, as a client myself, how transformative a collaborative therapeutic relationship can be

As your therapist, my first concern is to create a safe and supportive place where you can explore what brings you to therapy. Whether you feel stuck in an unfulfilling relationship or are searching for more meaning in your day to day life, my approach will bring movement and change. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the key to successful therapy and we will practice authentic, present-centered dialogue including emotions held in the body. As we explore what is happening in the moment we often create new experiences that can replace old, obsolete or no longer use full patterns of belief.

I don't know what to say here and that is okay! With acceptance of this I can be present in curiosity and openness. Support of my clients begins here. I work with adolescents, young adults, adults, and couples to help them tap into their innate power to heal. Whether suffering from anxiety, heart-ache, depression, or deep trauma, behind all these symptoms exists a path to wholeness.

Experiential Therapy

How does experiential therapy work?

Experiential therapy works by allowing an individual to use their creativity to re-imagine themselves and their lives in an effort to process their emotions. Experiential therapy may take many forms, including engaging clients through art, re-enactments, role-playing, music, or forms of physical recreation. By focusing on these activities, experiential therapists help individuals identify the emotions they associate with previous experiences and work together to cope with negative reactions, like fear, anger, or shame.

Is experiential therapy evidence-based?

Experiential therapy incorporates many therapy modalities, some of which have been more closely researched than others. Music therapy, for example, has been shown to help with sleep problems. Some studies find that art therapy can be beneficial for those with eating disorders or personality disorders, while other research suggests that such approaches have little impact.

How long does experiential therapy last?

The duration of experiential therapy will depend on the type of therapy used as well as the severity of the challenges an individual faces. Play therapy sessions may last for 30 to 45 minutes, and usually occur weekly for about 20 sessions. Art therapy may comprise 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Music therapy sessions generally last between 30 and 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or on an as-needed basis. For each therapy type, clients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

Does experiential therapy help with trauma?

Trauma is one area where experiential therapy may be useful. Traumatic experiences such as combat or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating visual art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. Listening to music can be relaxing, while making music as part of a group provides plenty of opportunities to connect with other people. Play therapy is often of value to children who have experienced a loss or distressing family experience, or who have been physically or emotionally abused.
