Hi there, I'm Jillian and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in New York City and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work individually with adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, and relationship issues to help them have a greater appreciation of who they are, navigate areas of stress with more confidence, and simply feel better. I use the approaches to therapy that best suit the needs of my clients. I most frequently use Strengths-Based Therapy and CBT, as both modalities help me and my clients develop a shared understanding of their reality and work towards reaching new milestones.

I’m passionate about helping to heal from trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and other challenges. I'm also interested in identity issues - “who am I in the face of this?” - such as those coming from life transitions, realizations about sexual orientation, severe addiction, spirituality or religion, being in a relationship with an addicted or narcissistic person, or from having a long-term diagnosis like ADHD or Borderline Personality Disorder. I work with teens, young adults, middle aged and elders; couples, families, and individuals.

I also facilitate Inner Work Groups and Retreats, and do a great deal of work with people with relationship issues.
In the heart of every problem lies its solution. We spend enormous amounts of time and energy searching for answers outside ourselves, when the answers lie within. Heartwork is a creative process, which teaches one to find fundamental solutions to both everyday problems and the more difficult life questions, transforming "problems" into doorways to compassion, insight and joy. My award-winning book, "Heartwork: How To Get What You Really, REALLY Want" gives one my orientation and the primary tools for working through one's issues. The e-book version can be downloaded at my website: www.awakentheheart.org.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
