Harvest House is born out of a deep desire to develop and grow healthy, meaningful, attached relationships with God, self, and one another. The principle of relationship is the fundamental organizing structure of our universe, our world, and ourselves. This principle guides our work as clinicians, colleagues, and friends. This work is hard work; however, it is necessary work. Marriage and Family Therapists are unique in the mental health field because of our systemic orientation. Our education and extensive training in the dynamics of relationships set us apart from other clinical practitioners.

I have a passion for helping clients learn how to manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and a special interest in working with pregnant and postpartum women.
You’re not sure when it started, but you feel hopeless, stuck, alone and terrified you will never be happy again. You feel the weight of the world on your shoulders and you don’t quite know where to turn to for support. Your stress, irritability and anxiety make you wonder if you’ll ever feel better. You hope to get to a place where you can finally experience happiness and feel fulfilled, healthy, and whole. You want to take better care of yourself, set better limits and boundaries in your life to improve your relationships with yourself and others. It is possible to stand in your truth and find peace again, and I’d like to help.

I specialize in, and am passionate about, treating a range of anxiety disorders, as well as adjustment issues and trauma. If you struggle with anxiety or OCD, you may have fears that persist no matter what you try. Or you may feel stuck in patterns that you cannot control, or unable to stop certain behaviors even though some part of you desperately wants to stop. And while I cannot promise to erase the thoughts you are having, I can help you to change your relationship with them and reduce their ability to make your life difficult. There is hope.

(Accepting New Clients) In therapy we will build upon your own inner strength and authentic self to process and heal pain or psychological injuries that may be getting in the way of living a healthy, integrated and fulfilling life. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process: we will work together to navigate and explore any problems or patterns in your life that may be contributing to the challenges that you face. I am not a therapist that will tell you what to do, but I will help you explore all the parts that make up YOU, including the parts of you that are resilient and know the way forward.

Is it hard for you to believe that you can be happy? I define happiness as overall life contentment. I believe that your happiness is attainable and this is why I am a life coach. The ability to be happy is a skill. Good coaches have studied the game and learned skills and strategies that can be shared to help the team win and individual players self-actualize. In other words, there is help. There are skills and strategies that can be learned and used to find, protect, and experience your own happiness.

I believe that when struggling with concerns and issues like lack of finances, anxiety, depression, traumatic events, and strained relationships, the individual needs to have a supportive ear and a nonjudgmental point of view to process and explain their feelings. Being heard is an essential key in the therapeutic process. The therapeutic process is about improving on your strengths and strengthening your weaknesses. My goal is to make your life your reality by working with you to help improve your life.

I have openings for new couples NOW! I am passionate about all things “relationship.” I believe that we are in relationship to everything, all the time. The trouble is that no one teaches us how to DO relationships well. We need to learn about what makes the patterns in our relationship heathy or harmful. Each of us has the power to grow our relationships into something beautiful. I am here to teach you HOW! I have spent many years researching and studying what makes relationships last, what makes them grow and what makes them end. I am determined to help guide you and your partner to your highest relationship potential possible.

Relationships are affected by many factors, including life stressors, self-image, past harms, and beliefs about how relationships “should” be. When they’re not going well, we can feel disconnected, hurt, and frustrated, and this can negatively impact many other areas of our lives. My passion and expertise lie in supporting a diverse array of clients in all types of relationships including couples, polycules, parenting, families, friendships, and the relationship with yourself. I strive to create a space where you feel safe to express your true self. Together we will honor your unique values, preferences, and culture.

You feel unheard, overextended, and unable to keep up. You're stressed and aren't taking care of yourself like before. You feel anxious and isolated and it's destroying your relationships with others, making work difficult and distracting you from your goals. You've lost sight of your needs and wonder if you will ever feel good again.

At The Sanctuary, we work with people of all ages. We believe that all people have infinite worth, so before working with us, know that is our view of you and/or your child already. Our clinicians have been classically trained in many of the greats (IFS, CBT, DBT, play therapy, etc.). The director has additional training in death and dying. With that being said, "Out of all of my credentials as a therapist, my most significant is that I'm a card carrying member of the human race" (Lori Gottlieb). Initially, our aims are to get to know you or your child from a strengths perspective and building a positive rapport.

Your heart starts racing, hands get sweaty, vision gets blurry, and there’s an elephant sitting on your chest. Maybe this started out of nowhere. Maybe you know what started this panic and this sense of doom. Either way, I’m here to sit beside you while you figure all this out. It’s no picnic to be stuck between a rock and a hard place, making difficult choices that feel impossible. Becoming an adult can be very exciting and very scary at the same time. Even when you think you’ve reached the summit of adulthood, you realize that life still has wild surprises and hard losses. The “adulting” never stops!

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
