Please call me Billy! I am a clinical psychologist in telehealth private practice, with almost fifteen years' experience. My clients are often burdened by trauma, grief, and stress. They are wondering if it's even possible to feel better. In therapy, we approach this question thoughtfully and deeply. We don't shy away from the realities, and we trust the healing process to produce new life and energy for the struggle.

My style is relational and trauma-informed.
I believe healing happens through relationships. When we can share all parts of ourselves with another and be truly seen. Witnessed. Understood. The messy, the dark, the confusing and the seemingly unlovable. All parts of you are welcome here. You’re invited to bring your whole self to each session where you will be seen, heard, and validated. From a place of openness and curiosity, I provide a warm and affirming space for you to heal and grow. You don’t have to do it alone, I would be honored and humbled to join you.

Interventions operate from a person-centered, multicultural, trauma-informed, and gender-fair framework to provide a nurturing and creative environment to identify and explore issues holistically and collaboratively.
I believe each individual has what it takes to overcome obstacles by accessing their inner wisdom and unique strengths. My approach to counseling is integrative, meaning I draw from several different types of therapy to fit what is best for the client's needs. I hold sessions from a non-hierarchical and non-judgmental position while simultaneously acknowledging the differences and limitations of working with diverse populations.

I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues and I specialize in working with trauma and dissociation including PTSD and complex PTSD.
I offer individual psychotherapy for adults in Queens, NY and online. In my collaborative work with clients I help people gain more insight in themselves and their relationships, examine the role of the past into the present and bring attention and curiosity to different parts of themselves in order to help them feel empowered to create the changes they want to make. I also use Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful technique for reprocessing trauma if needed.

Sometimes the best thing you can give yourself is the chance to be heard, tell your story and share your experience. In the current climate it may be especially hard for you to find the support you need. Maybe you have experienced trauma that seems to affect your work or relationships. Daily stressors can compound and impact your wellbeing, leaving you feeling distressed, anxious, irritable, depressed or overwhelmed. I aim to help you gain new awareness about your feelings and how they relate to current challenges or past experiences, leading to a sense of relief, improved self-acceptance and even curiosity and excitement.

My specialties include working with clients on a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, LGBTQI+ concerns as well as perinatal mental health.
I deeply believe in our innate drives toward healing. At times we need support to find our way along this path; this is where therapy can help. I employ a collaborative approach to develop curiosity and compassion for one’s whole self. In therapy we tune into the body’s wisdom, foster acceptance of our present selves, and reshape narratives of our past.

Life is full of ups and downs. There are times when it may feel like it's all too much to handle on your own. If you have suffered enough you are not alone, I am here to hold space for you. I work with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma-related issues. During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the concerns at hand, and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter.

Working with me as your therapist, you will feel heard and supported in a way that is tailored to you - whether that means focusing on solutions and practical skills that you can implement between sessions; exploring how your past has shaped your present; or using evidence-based treatment to process trauma in a non-judgmental space.
As a therapist, I prioritize building a genuine therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy and compassion. Our bodies hold trauma and stress accumulated over our lifetimes. My practice integrates EMDR, mind-body modalities, and talk therapy to help clients cope with current stress and heal from trauma. Our life experiences also lead us to develop unhelpful thoughts and beliefs. I empower my clients to recognize and adapt their harmful thoughts patterns, giving them the tools to thrive.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
