Welcome! In envisioning someone I could support, there's a sense of navigating life's complexities, perhaps contending with past traumas or present stressors. Their journey involves seeking understanding, growth, and resilience and an aspiration lies in cultivating self-care practices, developing coping skills, and finding strength in adversity. One's goals may include emotional stability, self-awareness, and healthier relationships. There's a desire to harness inner strengths, surmount challenges, and embrace a fulfilling existence. Ultimately, guidance and support are sought on the path toward healing and personal transformation.

Does it feel like a struggle to find someone you actually connect with? Do you find yourself staying in relationships despite something feeling “off” or seeing the red flags? Maybe you are trying to bounce back from the ending of a relationship. You might be feeling stressed, confused, sad, or just exhausted of being stuck in a toxic cycle. You want a safe space to vent and process what you are feeling, so you can get unstuck, better understand your patterns, and improve your self esteem.

Being involved in the process of helping people deal with their struggles and difficulties in life is a privilege. Every individual is different, with different personalities and backgrounds, however with encouragement and support, we all have the ability to look within ourselves and move forward in our growth as human beings. I offer you a safe environment where together we can explore your inner conflicts that either have you stuck, or prevent you from being as happy as you deserve to be.

Life can be overwhelming, and it’s okay to seek support. I have over 25 years of experience helping clients improve their mental health through therapy. I work with clients who want to feel better. Many clients have stated that "I have it all but I am still not happy". We will look for the source of unhappiness and work to change your thoughts, feelings, and reactions. My clients describe me as easy to talk to, warm and humorous. I often give "homework" assignments to my clients to reinforce our discussion from sessions. I aim to have my client feel better and take away skills that will last a lifetime,

I provide my clients the coping skills needed to navigate through their individual and unique life challenges. I will help my clients better understand themselves and also help them reach their ultimate goals, all while doing so in a safe comforting environment. Lastly, I welcome all of my clients with warmth and empathy from the moment they begin therapy until their very last session. "Courage doesn't happen when you have all of the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life".

My approach is to support the whole person by working together so that problems might be seen less as an obstacle and more as a challenge where change is possible. Whether someone seeks to address a specific area they may be struggling with, or simply striving to improve their sense of well being, through a positive therapeutic relationship one might gain insight and a new understanding that lends to creating personal growth & transformation.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
