I aspire to create a space that is welcoming, safe, non-judgmental, empathic and introspective. My goal is to help you learn about yourself and how you relate to others so that you can make positive improvements that are lasting. Therapy can be challenging; but my belief is that through this meaningful work you will develop a deeper sense of self and awareness of strengths that may have gone undiscovered to this point. In therapy, issues to be resolved will be addressed with the idea that self-awareness leads to choice, responsibility and change.

Choosing a mental health provider can feel daunting. I approach treatment with the philosophy that the foundation for positive change begins with a strong therapist-client relationship and that individuals can find meaning and thrive even amidst life’s most challenging chapters. I am experienced in treating adults with a range of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stressors such as relationship and work difficulties. I also specialize in helping clients and their loved ones cope with medical conditions such as pain, insomnia, and cancer, as well as other physical illnesses or disabilities.

My goal as a therapist is to create an honest, safe and non-judgemental space. We will work together to gain insight into the behaviors that might be causing you stress, anxiety or feelings of sadness and loneliness. I'm available for a free 15 minute phone or video call to see if I can be helpful to you.

Have you been experiencing emotional pain that has left you feeling as though you were having surgery without having anesthesia? Congratulations on taking the first step in making a decision to eliminating your pain, and deciding to live your best life. I believe that it takes tremendous courage to want to change one's life for the better. I am able to provide a nonjudgmental supportive environment where clients can feel safe in sharing their thoughts and feelings. Also I have created a space where clients can explore their goals and discuss the actions they will take in order to live their lives to the fullest.

I believe that when empowered, everyone has the ability to change. I am a seasoned Gestalt and EMDR practitioner. As well as being trained in Gestalt and EMDR therapy modalities, I have practiced for 30+ years as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and work a variety of persons with disabilities. As such, I am very well versed in community resources. I have been known to "work out of the box" and rely heavily on creativity in order to achieve success with my clients.

Often times we find ourselves feeling frustrated with relationships, either at home or at work. Perhaps we are in transition, adjusting to major life events such as the loss of a job, loss of a significant person, or caring for an aging parent. Depression, anxiety and stress can get in the way of living a more full, productive and satisfying life. Utilizing a supportive, non-judgmental, collaborative and engaged therapeutic relationship, I can help you understand those internal barriers, with the goal of relieving those symptoms.

I address problems with a focus on results, not intentions. Resolve that if what you're doing isn't working, you'll be willing to change it. Do you want to live purposefully, or will you continue complaining about what you don't have? While I work with past issues, I'll help you live in the now in a purposeful and rewarding present onto a satisfying future. Resolve that you'll no longer allow your choices to cause you pain and fear rather than peace and joy. If you can say "I'm sick of this. I am ready" then give me a call.

When you reach out and begin therapy, you have begun an important journey of inner awareness and self-understanding. Each person's life's journey and experience is different. The process can be scary at first, frustrating even, but always rewarding. It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone to seek help or answers to personal questions, doubts or discomforts. if you are questioning your sexual orientation, gender identity or the process of coming out, it can be difficult. Your personal truth can be hindered by cultural, religious and familial bonds.

It's normal to feel overwhelmed when trying to manage the expectations we set for ourselves and that others set for us. Given the busy nature of our lives, there is little time to process what these expectations mean to us and why they can cause us distress. Therapy can give space for life to slow down, to limit distractions, and to keep the judgments of others out. By engaging in the therapeutic process, we gain an understanding of our values and how they inform our behavior and emotional well-being.

Psychotherapy is about transition, you are not necessarily bound by your patterns. It's also about simultaneously addressing symptoms and developing effective and lasting means of combating them. Life stressors, especially during difficult times, challenge us to approach these stressors in more effective ways. We must ask to reconsider ourselves, our behaviors, our responses, and our ability to engage with others.. The practice of psychotherapy is a creative, forward moving, and lasting transition to enhance all areas of one’s life.
