A CBT therapist trained by Dr Albert Ellis, a psychoanalyst with individuals, couples and families trained at Manhattan Institute and NYU Postdoc, I am also highly skilled in IFS (internal family systems) and EMDR.
Have you been traumatized by something that seems very sad, or unimaginable, and hard to fathom or understand, even now ? Are you struggling with anxiety, depression or relationship issues leading to procrastination, numbing out, drinking too much, binging on netflix, or other ways of avoiding intimacy with yourself or others? Avoiding our emotions has a cost. When we shut down we become numb. We end up living only in our thoughts, with no emotional compass to guide us. Or we get flooded when we do feel, which can alienate our loved ones. With therapy that helps you feel, you can avoid missing out.

Through my education and training I have learned to help individuals, couples and families move from a place of self-doubt, depression, anxiety, and shame toward self-actualization and greater authenticity so they may feel truly comfortable (and powerful) in their own skin through the use of CBT, DBT, and Family Systems Therapy.
Sometimes it feels like the world conspires against our authenticity. We often face pressure to be someone we’re not, or to paper over our complex identities for others’ comfort and ease of understanding. I was born in Austin, Texas to a Caucasian mother and African-American father before I was adopted by my Jewish parents at 2 days old. I faced judgement and pressure to choose binary race and class identities, whether they suited me or not. Navigating these pressures helped me deepen my empathy for others, my curiosity about other people, and a sensitivity to anyone who feels unheard, disregarded, or misunderstood.

I see teens, adults, and couples who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship and family issues, academic stressors, and identity development. I approach psychotherapy holistically, integrating models such as Internal Family Systems Theory, The Ackerman Relational Approach, and Trauma Theory. Working in an environment focused on social justice, it is important to me to be able to help clients navigate issues related to experiences of racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and sexism.

By combining the approaches of ACT, IFS, and MBSR, I tailor the therapeutic experience to your unique needs, identity, and goals.
In suffering, what do you move towards? Maybe your methods of coping with feelings of emptiness or self-criticism feel repetitive. Eventually, you find yourself trapped in a cycle that distances you from what you most want for yourself. You don’t have to do this alone. Working as an IFS clinician, I prioritize making space for all parts of you. Sometimes the tools we once used to survive may no longer serve us. Luckily, the attempts we make to keep ourselves safe are an example of our capacity for resilience. Together, we can find new ways to channel your strengths toward creating the life you truly desire.

My work is informed by Internal Family Systems, Somatic modalities, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing.
I am a nonbinary psychotherapist working with adults and teenagers with anxiety, ADHD, gender and sexuality exploration, low self-worth, trauma and sexual assault histories, and much more. You can expect a session with me to be tailored to your specific needs. This can include growing your awareness of your bodily sensations, thoughts, and emotions to gain more choices around your reactions to life and life’s stressors. I love helping clients nurture deep and compassionate connections with themselves, even parts of themselves that may feel shameful or that they may have struggled to find kindness towards in the past.

My approach blends systemic insights with eclectic, trauma-informed strategies, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, and DBT.
Most folks I collaborate with are navigating the aftermath of trauma or adverse experiences, seeking pathways to healing. They confront challenges such as C-PTSD, eating concerns/body image issues, and codependency, with the aim of identifying triggers and managing unwanted behaviors more effectively. Their journey is towards processing past traumas, fostering resilience, and reclaiming their lives. They aspire to convert their pain into strength, nurturing healthier relationships with both themselves and the surrounding world.

My approach - a blend of psychodynamic, IFS and Sensorimotor therapy - can help clients access deeper layers of their unconscious as well as their own body's natural capacity to heal.
Are you feeling frustrated and stuck? Do you sense that you can do better? Are familiar coping responses no longer serving you as well as they used to? With over 15+ years of experience, I provide virtual counseling for adults that is secure and completely confidential. My specialty is in developmental trauma, which can leave an indelible impact on our adult functioning, relationships and bodies. I am particularly interested in studying and treating trauma's impact on men’s sexual development, such as unwanted sexual urges, sexual-identity confusion, addictions and fetishes. These issues require a value-neutral and nuanced approach.

Integrating elements of IFS, CBT, psychodynamic, and mindfulness practices, I aim to facilitate a process with three distinct objectives: identifying and reframing negative thought patterns, developing a stronger awareness of self, and bolstering autonomy and ability in developing the skills necessary to accomplish desired goals and find wellbeing.
Clients often begin therapy from an overwhelmed, entangled headspace, knowing innately there’s something they would like to work towards, but feeling unsure of what that journey may look like. I strive to join you where you’re at, providing a safe, non-judgmental space to be heard. We will work together to uncover insights and gain clarity, drawing upon your strengths, capabilities, and sense of self. My approach is warm, conversational, and collaborative, beginning with your goals and hopes for treatment, and incorporating creative methods to work together in this pursuit. Our sessions are tailored to best suit your unique needs.

As a therapist I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, and yoga. Inspired by my own yoga practice I take a holistic approach, striving to integrate the body into talk therapy. I find exploration of somatic experiences to be a doorway into understanding how emotions are stored in, and processed through, the body, mind, and spirit. In sessions I endeavor to create a trauma informed collaborative environment of mutual trust and safety. I follow the lead of the client, believing that the client is the expert of their own experiences.
