I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in the treatment of disordered eating, body image dissatisfaction, and mood and anxiety disorders. I work best with clients who are open to a Health At Every Size approach and/or who are in a more sustained eating disorder recovery. I strive to create a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental environment where we can work collaboratively on healing unresolved issues, strengthening your sense of self, and helping you live your fullest life now.

It is my strong belief that the systems we navigate directly impact our mental health and well-being, and that through recognition and critical consciousness of these influences, we can radically free ourselves. My therapeutic approach borrows from Freirean thought, acknowledging that individuals are masters of their own experiences and that collaboratively we will liberate each other. I believe growing up multiracial (Chinese; White) and queer positioned me well to see how uniquely multifaceted each person is. In my therapy, we will nurture a nonjudgmental and explorative space centering your growth.

Sharing your individual difficulties, fears, desires, and dreams can be a challenging experience. Therefore, I focus on building a warm and safe therapeutic environment for introspection and self-discovery. I believe that we frequently we have the tools inside of us to heal our struggles and I seek to help you uncover those tools in therapeutic work. As a queer black woman, I understand it can be tough to find spaces to authentically express your true feelings, as well as get validation and support. I have experience holding space and processing the challenges that can arise from holding multiple marginalized identities.

Deciding to see a therapist is a huge step towards getting more fulfillment out of life. Often we rationalize, avoid, or plain ol' give up when faced with life's challenges leaving us feeling anxious, depressed and hopeless.
Therapy is an active process where we explore issues in your life. You become the catalyst of change. I'm a guide along your journey, offering support, empathy, and insight. The goal is to help you feel entitled to all of your feelings. In turn, you become better equipped to attain what you want in life, the way you would like.

For some, therapy provides a space to address an acute crisis, chronic symptoms or to expand awareness of oneself and sometimes a mix of all three. I believe therapy is most impactful when it is tailored to each person’s unique needs and concerns. This looks different for everyone and might even look different throughout your journey. Good therapy can help you to make the changes you have been struggling with, identify the patterns that might be holding you back and ultimately help you to create a more fulfilling life.

Sometimes, coping can become exhausting and dull. Maybe what you have been doing is not working anymore, or you are looking for a place to start. When you are overwhelmed with issues of anxiety, struggling in your interpersonal relationships, or with your own identity and sexuality, with no relief, it is time to try something different. I believe so much of the therapeutic process finds success through connection and self-awareness. I aim to co-create a comfortable and open space to explore these challenges and to honor and support you in your decision to prioritize your mental health.

We all play different roles in life, and sometimes these roles can ask so much of us that little is left for ourselves. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed and burned out. Counseling can help ease these feelings by offering a safe space to unpack and sort through even the biggest emotions. I encourage authenticity and curiosity in the counseling space, and my aim is to support you as you learn and put into action new skills while growing your sense of awareness, self-acceptance, and agency. My counseling approach is integrative. I will incorporate drama therapy as well, where we will use a bit of creativity to help make change.

I work primarily with adolescents, children, and young adults who have had very difficult experiences and need a safe, playful, and steady partner to explore the impact of these events on their lives. As an out queer clinician I also work regularly with LGBTQIA+ clients who seek a therapist aware of the complexity of those identities in the world, as well as with parents looking to better develop skills to support trans or queer-identified children. I recognize racism and white supremacy as forms of social oppression that provoke traumatic responses and work accordingly with clients who have been harmed by these systems.

We all seek a psychotherapist when we feel lost, confused, out of sorts with ourselves and others and it takes courage to expose one's self at times like this. Just the act of making the call to a therapist creates more confidence because it's a step towards gaining a little mastery over one's confusion or paralysis. It signals one does believe there's the chance of resolving one's problems and moving forward.

Each one of us can achieve positive change. I see people who are seeking more for themselves and have realized that the way they have been living no longer feels right or helpful. Whether you need support with life challenges and transitions, working through relationship concerns, managing difficult feelings, or healing from past experiences, our work together focuses on establishing a safe, caring place in which to learn more about yourself and develop greater capacity within and in your relationships and life.

You’re exhausted from feeling anxious and overwhelmed with life. You want to feel deeply connected to yourself, others, and maybe God, but just feel distant and stuck. You desire to feel confident, safe, and loved, instead of feeling guilty and never good enough. You are ready for relief and to embrace life as a whole hearted, confident adult. I'm glad you're here. Therapy with me is a place where you can feel safe, understood, and known. Together we’ll uncover patterns keeping you stuck and how they connect to your past experiences, working to build healthier rhythms of functioning.

As a firm believer in a mind-body-spirit approach to psychological health, I incorporate a long history of multi-disciplinary spiritual practice and investigation with my graduate training in relationship / family therapy into a holistic perspective that utilizes transitions and crises as opportunities to deepen insight and life skills that better navigate and manage them. In terms of couples work, I help with communications, developing conflict resolution strategies, healing from infidelities, addiction/codependency, and other sexual issues by examining your familial/relational histories and teaching a variety of guideposts to help you be your best selves, together and individually.

I specialize in helping clients that want to feel empowered and take control of their lives. I work with all of my clients to build a life of presence and power and identify habits that may not be serving you. I find great joy in working with clients that are ready to create change and may be lacking in the tools to help them get where they want to be to achieve their goals. Together we will come up with a plan to help you find your inner strength and resilience and we will work together to help you find the motivation to make change.
