My style is conversational and based in relational, feminist, and person-centered therapeutic orientations.
All of us have moments in our lives when we could use a little extra help. Therapy can be that support, whether we’re facing big changes, past traumas, issues in our relationships, ongoing mental health struggles, or burnout from the demands of everyday life. It allows for the time to be heard and seen, to talk things through, to build better coping skills, and reach greater fulfillment. I’ve felt privileged to see and aid in this growth process throughout my time working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and eating disorders.

Working with a therapist can be an act of liberation and a vital part of your path to challenging old patterns and learning new strategies for building the life you want. I believe that the mind and body require treatment together-- providing the opportunity to heal and repair from trauma. As a therapist I work primarily from a Feminist perspective with a focus on gender, sexuality and holistic wellness. I specialize in working with queer and LGBT identified Latinx communities. I offer EMDR as a primary tool for trauma healing as well as EFT , meditation and relational somatic psychotherapy techniques with all clients.

I work through trauma-informed, contemplative, feminist, and humanistic lenses.
In suffering, what do you move towards? Maybe your methods of coping with feelings of emptiness or self-criticism feel repetitive. Eventually, you find yourself trapped in a cycle that distances you from what you most want for yourself. You don’t have to do this alone. Working as an IFS clinician, I prioritize making space for all parts of you. Sometimes the tools we once used to survive may no longer serve us. Luckily, the attempts we make to keep ourselves safe are an example of our capacity for resilience. Together, we can find new ways to channel your strengths toward creating the life you truly desire.

Everyone needs a safe space to talk about life's difficult moments. Creating that safe/non-judgemental space is my primary goal in every session. Using a supportive and collaborative approach, I aim to help you develop insight and awareness into your struggles in order to foster healing and growth. I believe in meeting you where you are and walking beside you throughout your journey of enlightenment.

My lens and therapeutic approach are intersectional and informed by anti-colonist, queer, feminist, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based theories.
Therapy provides opportunities for liberation - for understanding what the narrative in your life has been in order to realize what it could be. With curiosity and gentleness, we will explore experiences, relationships, patterns, and parts of your identity that feel limiting. I believe healing comes when you view yourself not as someone who needs fixing, but as someone who is complex and ever-changing and has continued to persist despite the messiness, conflict, and struggle life brings. I value transparency and see my role as that of a witness and guide as we create a space of validation, honesty, warmth, partnership, and growth.

How can finding a therapist who truly understands me and makes me feel safe enough to open up be so difficult? Perhaps you're struggling with personal issues that feel hard to express or even understand yourself. Maybe anxiety, depression, or loneliness has hindered your ability to connect with others. Or, your unique challenges might be overlooked in white cis straight therapy. If so, I am here for you. As a non-binary person, I specialize in serving LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and neurodivergent people. I adopt a feminist approach that promotes open dialogue about social issues and encourages advocacy to reclaim agency.

I customize my approach, working from a psychodynamic and multicultural-feminist framework to deepen self-understanding while incorporating CBT and DBT to help alleviate symptoms.
I work with individuals and couples struggling with life transitions, overwhelming emotions, and feeling stuck with where they are. My clients often find themselves disconnected from others due to fear that they won’t be understood. Some have dealt with years of anxiety, depression, and trauma, making it difficult to imagine feeling better. Whatever you are going through, you don’t have to do it alone. Our work can help with finding your way through challenging times with greater appreciation of your own innate strength and a newfound perspective of what it means to create a life that is fulfilling and worth living.

My approach incorporates relational-cultural, feminist, and interpersonal lenses.
I am a trauma-informed provider who supports individuals and couples navigating grief/loss, conflict, trauma and transition. I am passionate about supporting folks identifying with neurodiversity (eg. autistic, AuDH, diagnosed with ADHD, etc ). Clients I support often struggle with the impact of stories about who they "should be", questioning, "Do I matter?" or shedding pieces of themselves to create a sense of belonging. Understanding our stories is one of the bravest things we can do. Together we can explore yours, identify your values and strengths, and pursue healing and growth.

My theoretical orientation is informed by neuropsychological, existential, feminist, and learning theories.
I view therapy as an active process on the part of the client and the therapist, set within the context of a relationship built on trust, vulnerability, and curiosity. My clients may be seeking to develop greater personal agency and authenticity in their lives. They may want to clarify their values and life direction or better understand and manage their emotional lives, resolve self-defeating behavior patterns, or foster meaningful relationships. I often work with clients who are living their lives in environments which demand consistent excellence in performance and who may, as a result, have distinct needs and challenges.

My approach draws from Feminist and Relational Theories that addresses the capitalism and oppressive world we exist in.
Hello! Thank you for your time and interest in my work! My name is Sam. I'm a first generation queer Asian American practicing as a licensed mental health counselor for 8 years. I could bore you with my educational and professional credentials, but I'd like to tell you more about me. Beyond the therapy room, I am someone who thinks deeply about my role in relationships and interpersonal dynamics. I'm also someone who dives into art projects and will likely have an unfinished project in a corner!
