My approach is collaborative and client-centered (CBT, DBT, Adlerian, and MBCT), focusing on your unique needs and goals.
Follow your heart but take your brain with you. - Adler. Learning how to find happiness is different for everybody. Life can often feel overwhelming, whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or family trauma. Exploring your life narrative and how you've adapted to those unique experiences helps to better understand the self-soothing, but sometimes self-destructive cycles we unintentionally maintain. By identifying the source of these patterns, we can challenge them to create a healthier and happier you.

I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic, Adlerian, acceptance and commitment therapy, and narrative therapy into our sessions.
My philosophy is that clients are collaborative in their treatment. While I have a major role and will not be passive in treatment, I acknowledge that clients have expertise in their own right. I know that for a lot of people, starting to attend therapy is tough. There is a lot of power in having a space to open up and I hope I can provide that space.

I use tools from Adlerian, ACT, DBT, and CBT.
I strive to help people make sense of their lived experiences so they can enact the changes they wish to have in their lives. Beyond building awareness of one's issues, to foster growth takes action. These actions take place inside and outside of therapy through validation, emotional processing, behavioral changes, encouragement, and a willingness to be imperfect or vulnerable. I aim to help clients feel empowered by focusing on collaboration, centering their needs in treatment, and promoting agency. I employ cultural humility and a person-centered approach to my clinical work, as to never treat people as a diagnosis.

To others, or on paper, your life may look great, but you still feel unfulfilled. My clients are New Yorkers who want more, and often they feel uncomfortable sharing these insecurities with family or friends. Whether you are experiencing career challenges, struggling with family issues, or spending hours fruitlessly swiping on dating apps, you know you need to break the cycle. I provide a safe, empathetic space and a solutions-based approach to explore areas of concern. I also work with clients to identify the issues underlying a feeling of general malaise. Sometimes we just don’t know what we don’t know.

I strongly believe that people are not defined by a diagnosis or demographic. The actual special process of therapy is not solely determined by your diagnosis, demographic category, or immediate circumstances in a paint-by-numbers-approach. The therapist and client have a shared purpose of participating in a structured conversation that will clarify core beliefs, identify unresolved conflicts, and establish realistic options, goals -short term and long. My style is supportive and direct with the goal in mind of working with you for the shared target of you facing life feeling better prepared, happy, secure.

The trauma you experienced, whether recent or in childhood, has kept you in fear that it will happen again. Sometimes, your heart will race for no reason. You’ll be in a safe space, but you’ll find yourself breathing heavily with your hands shaking. Nightmares often haunt your dreams, and you’ll wake up in a sweat. It’s even difficult to look at yourself in the mirror; all you see is the helpless person who went through such pain staring back at you. Friends and family struggle to connect with you because they don’t understand why you seem depressed or anxious. What no one knows is that it’s been so long since you’ve felt joy.

Though I specialize in working with couples and young adults, I thoroughly enjoy working with those of all demographics and backgrounds. Struggles within relationships, loss of control with substances, anxiety, depression, or a mixture of them all can leave us feeling alone and isolated, no matter the stage of life, and having an experienced therapist to offer guidance and support can make all the difference in our lives. Throughout my time as a clinician, I have supported clients in tackling mental roadblocks, implementing skills for their relationships, as well as listened with care to their stories.

Every day, I am inspired by the courage and strength of my clients. Bearing witness to their progress and being part of their journey of fulfillment is a profound honor. As Irvin Yalom poignantly stated, "The act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help." I am here to listen, support, and guide you every step of the way, helping you embrace the here and now and unlock your inner strength. I view therapy as a collaborative endeavor, where we work in concert to uncover patterns, build coping strategies, and foster personal growth.

Relationship strain, communication issues, PTSD, anxiety, trauma, mistrust of happiness and feelings of depression are some of the experiences I help you heal from. I work with folks whose past pains are inhibiting present fulfillment within relationships and quality of life. We work together to navigate stressors and responsibilities they are expected to keep up with, while managing past pains to relearn safety on their current path. I treat the person as a whole- meaning in addition to your psyche, I also take into account your environmental, circumstantial, and physical self and how that impacts your mental health overall.

Adlerian Therapists

How does Adlerian psychology work?

In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.

Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?

Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.

How long does Adlerian therapy take?

Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.

Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?

There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
