Have you chosen to take the first step toward resuming control in your life? This is an excellent beginning toward creating and attaining your personal goals. It is a journey of self-discovery you will no longer make alone. I would enjoy helping you to overcome your fears and problems that are stopping you from moving forward. We will discuss issues (past and present) that have kept you immobile. From there, you will gain insight that will give you the impetus to make decisions that will foster change.

I enjoy encountering people who are becoming dismayed at the way at least part of their lives are turning out. The outside world can feel frightening or chaotic. We may face a turn in monetary fortunes, a disappointing relationship, a difficult family member. Young, middle-aged or older, life can disappoint us, We start to wonder how we got to the place we are in and how to make it better. We say we want something and find ourselves going in the opposite direction. Often we want to be open with others and stay guarded and hidden.

I have found that a client-centered approach works best; whatever works for you, be it career coaching, rethinking your perceptions of self and others, negotiating challenges and changes in your life through reframing those perceptions or exploring your personal history, your story, using journaling, dream analysis, mindfulness to understand your relationship patterns.
My specialty now is in addressing life transitions and the feelings these changes engender. My focus is in learning to stay present, to be aware of feeling states, and to move toward clarity and forgiveness in order to reset the dynamics that surround depression, anxiety, anger, trauma.

It's perfectly normal and expected to feel some ambivalence about beginning psychotherapy. There is a natural fear that talking about one's concerns will make them worse and that even things that are going well could worsen in the process. My experience and training over 30 years has shown me however, that the therapeutic process enriches and strengthens what is already going well. The areas that one wants to improve become much better understood through the process, thereby clearing the way for real change to occur, which will only lead to a significantly more fulfilled life.

I am a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst with over 25 years of experience helping a wide range of individuals. All shared feelings of being stuck or blocked in fundamental areas of their lives. Powerful feelings and beliefs involving shame, fear, anger and sadness had disconnected them from inner sources of strength and self-esteem, and had prevented them from living and working freely and fully. I see psychotherapy as a collaborative relationship in which we identify and resolve those obstacles, leaving you with a new or renewed sense of authenticity, energy and hope.
