I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma and stressor-related disorders, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and high-risk behaviors such as suicidality and self-harm. I am trained and experienced in successfully delivering evidence-based modalities such as comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which I am intensely trained in through Behavioral Tech Institute, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I am also a trained practitioner in Brainspotting, a somatic mind-body treatment method.

I enjoy learning about my client; gathering an understanding of their reasons for seeking therapy, giving space to explore the past and current life events that have shaped them, as well as identify the strengths they already possess that can be applied to learning new skills and new perspectives. I work diligently with my clients to become comfortable and confident using what is discussed in sessions, on their own and outside of sessions!

I am Deepa Saharia, an Indian-American therapist specializing in relational and narrative therapies. In our time together, we will piece together the intricate puzzle of your identities, patterns, and narratives. Throughout our therapeutic journey, we will explore the layers of your unique cultural landscape, so that you can accept yourself holistically. As a queer-identifying therapist, I help those who have hidden parts of themselves to reclaim their capacity to reconnect and realign with their true self.

I fundamentally believe everyone, given the right tools, has the ability to thrive and fully experience life. Using DBT, I will immediately provide you with transformative skills to navigate stressful life circumstances, adapt to and stabilize dysregulated emotions, and that will encourage you to create the changes you envision. DBT is a short-term therapy, with long-term benefits. My focus is working with adolescents and adults, both individually and in groups, with mood disorders, anxiety/panic disorders, depression, suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and in need of crisis intervention.

On the surface, you look like you have your shit together and everyone comes to you for answers. Amongst your friends, maybe you’re the “strong one” and in your family, perhaps you’re the “successful one”. But deep down, you're burned out and constantly worrying about being a burden to others. What's clear is that you barely recognize yourself, question your purpose, and continuously blame yourself for it all. You're in pain and can use some relief.

What makes for a meaningful life? There are as many answers as there are people in the world. And yet, we all have to answer this question for ourselves. Maybe you’re unsure of what you want out of life. Perhaps you do know, but feel conflicted about it. Therapy is a place where you can safely explore these larger questions around who you are and what you want so you can make lasting change and find meaning in every day. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years working as a theater director. Both of these roles involve helping someone cultivate a narrative.

My philosophy of therapy is collaborative and holistic, and I aim to meet my clients where they’re at to inspire change. I work with folks (individuals, couples, or families) dealing with a variety of concerns including: facing anxiety or overwhelm, struggling with burn out, or dealing with instability in relationships. Together, we can work to create more balance in your life and find more security. I can help you to make sense of difficult relationships, to own and advocate for your feelings and needs, and to identify and set boundaries with others.

I feel that therapy is most effective when the patient and therapist work both in the present and the past. Often the patient seeks therapy in order to relieve a symptom (i.e. depression, anxiety) or to resolve a relationship issue and they want relief quickly. I understand this need to feel better as quickly as possible but also feel that it is important to address early interpersonal issues that are having an impact on current relationships. In working along these parallel paths patients often feel relief of symptoms and gain a better understanding of lifelong dysfunctional patterns.

Formerly a photojournalist, I have always been intent on empowering others to tell their story, eager to understand the context of their reality. This interest in another person’s story is reflected in my thoughtful curiosity & distinct sense of empathy. I hope to create a safe & affirming space for clients to get curious about themselves, process their intersecting identities & articulate their own narrative. As an appreciative ally, I encourage self-reflection alongside self-compassion as a way to foster resilience and emotional insight, leading to a deeper discovery of the inner landscape.
