I support individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and big life transitions. I specialize in working with people in their 20s and 30s who are trying to figure out who they want to be in the world. This time can bring big decisions regarding career, relationship, and family. Often called a quarter-life crisis, it is often hard for us to maintain that strength amid uncertainty, self-doubt, and fear. I help clients experiencing a quarter-life crisis to explore problem areas and harness their inner strength and resilience.

I see people who struggle with their inner critic, fear of discomfort or failure, people-pleasing, boundary-setting, complex PTSD, and limerence. Our work together will consider how your past informs your present, including repetitions and interpersonal patterns that have made it impossible for you to feel satisfied and fulfilled. I'm approachable and direct, and I focus on being attuned to you and your experience. I also see creatives (writers, actors, artists) who want to identify the source(s) of blocks in their creative process.

I help people develop an authentic, integrated, and joyful sense of self. I specialize in trauma recovery, identity issues, gender & sexuality, and spirituality. I have worked extensively with survivors of childhood abuse and neglect, and know that people with these experiences can heal and grow, creating healthy meaningful lives that feel good. As a bicultural person of color, I am also well-versed in helping people navigate the complexities (and richness) of identity, culture, family, race, and belonging. In all my work, my goal is to help people feel grounded, self-accepting and free.

Despite your best efforts, it feels like you have lost the way to feeling connected and truly present to enjoy the simple day-to-day moments. I am a clinical psychologist and the Director of Via CBT Psychological Services, a practice specializing in women's mental health using a cognitive-behavioral treatment model (CBT).
Many of us find we need extra support from time to time. I have a particular interest in helping women transform their relationships, manage their moods effectively, and navigate life's stressors. I also have expertise in treating the anxiety, depression, and reproductive-related mood disorders that many women experience as they maneuver through life transitions. My approach is active, collaborative, empathetic, and non-judgmental; we will operate as a team!

What keeps you from living fully and with ease? Would you know happiness if it came to you? Many people seek therapy because of a specific set of symptoms or problems. Others feel more generally stuck, fed up, or confused by patterns that they cannot break despite continued efforts. I work with adults, couples, and adolescents struggling with relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, cultural/family identity, and the impact of traumatic experience. Together, we will create an exploratory space that fosters emotional authenticity, relief from shame, and a restored sense of vitality.

I consider psychotherapy to be a project between two people in which the goal is to understand both conscious and unconscious sources of emotional pain and ultimately open a space in which to alleviate suffering. The result is a very singular relationship that encourages multiple readings of itself and of all the relationships that have come before it. Through an understanding of feelings, relationships, and a deepening of inner and outer dialogue, we can enter a process of healing which leads to the shedding of old and destructive patterns.

I use evidence-based interventions with adolescents and adults who are struggling with worry, depression, identity, and navigating relationships (with themselves and others). Many of my clients are "high functioning" in that they get up each day, go to work or school (or both) and make it through the day. Yet, they also contend with issues like pervasive negative thoughts, overwhelming feelings of anxiety or loneliness, struggles with eating behavior and body image or compulsive behaviors, focusing attention, and managing difficult relationships. I work with clients to lighten the effects of these struggles on their lives.

Recovery! I work with those alcohol drinkers who are thinking about getting sober, and those with substance use disorders who are thinking about quitting. I’ve worked in nonprofits with youth especially lgbtq clients. I’ve worked with adults who cannot leave their homes due to substance use. There was a way to recovery for them and each person.

Many people start therapy during a life transition and may be struggling with difficult feelings that accompany these shifts. Others begin therapy because they feel stuck and frustrated with a lack of change. Whatever your impetus, my goal is to create a safe and accepting space in which you can explore the stories that have made up your life- those that reflect your strengths and resilience as well as those that have been accomplices to your suffering. I see myself as an invested collaborator in the process of your self-discovery and healing, a process that we will tailor to you based on what you want to accomplish.

I approach therapy from a holistic perspective that honors all aspects of a person as an integrated whole, using body-based somatic psychotherapy and mindfulness techniques at the core of my practice. When we begin to slow down and explore our mind-body experience with curiosity and care, we can start to notice and transform old wounds and patterns that are interfering with our ability to live a full life of ease, passion and connection. I come from a place of co-creating a journey with you that deeply honors the wisdom and strengths you already carry, while also working with you to develop new resources to help address your needs.
