My goal In psychotherapy is establishing a genuine relationship with my clients in order to foster emotional growth and change. We participate in an empathetic collaboration to address behavioral issues with sensitivity to strengths and limitations. As my clients gain insights into their lives, I encourage them to consider taking actions to affect change. They thereby gain self confidence and a sense of well-being that empower them to reach their goals. In our exchanges we discuss the emotional, cultural, and social conditions that the client faces in order to promote greater self-awareness.

Navigating the labyrinth of contemporary life can feel overwhelming, leaving us adrift in a sea of uncertainty, anxiety, and existential questioning. As we begin to understand the unconscious - what our symptoms communicate to us and how they have come to structure us - we shed the abounding sense of lack that we've carried and endured for years. Through this process, a novel way of being in the world emerges.

What does the shape of our lives reveal about our ideologies and our narrative of reality? How does psychotherapy help us examine this? The analytic space is dedicated to moving beyond the pressures of institutions and societal constraints that preexist us in order to seek the particular desires and needs in each of us. In treatment, we confront ourselves and our unique experience of the world so that we can explore possibilities for transformation. I am attuned to how one’s suffering may intersect with intimate relationships, inherited traumas, and systemic oppression. I welcome patients from diverse and non-normative backgrounds.

When someone seeks psychotherapy, it is to address questions, suffering, a dissatisfaction, unmooredness, or a desire for something to be different.

Throughout life, we all face many challenges...Maybe it's a painful break-up, being passed over for a promotion, a recent health event, or a traumatic experience from the past that you can't let go. As a clinical psychologist for over 30 years, I have successfully helped my clients gain insight into themselves so that they can change behavior, reconnect to their resilience and make significant improvements in their lives and relationships.I work with individuals, couples and families. I tailor treatment to the client because everyone has their own life circumstances, set of strengths and weakness, and agenda for therapy.

Most of us don't welcome difficult emotions; we try to disregard them, because we perceive them as our enemy. In fact, all of our emotions are signals that inform us about ourselves and the world around us, if we can learn to listen to them. When we accept all sides of ourselves and all of our feelings without discriminating against the negative ones, we are able to feel emotionally alive and connected. Psychological suffering occurs not because of our painful emotions, but because we try to erase them, and don't know what to do with them.

Our desire is not always clear and can paralyze us. This can create discomfort or suffering that we don't really understand or can't make sense of. Our jobs, friends, families and relationships can suffer because of this. I work with adults, adolescents, and children experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, panic, overwhelming feelings or moods, and obsessional compulsions amongst others. I also work with people going through changes or periods of questioning in their identity and sexuality.

I have a PhD from New York University and have been a practicing clinical and administrative social worker for a very long time. I also do executive coaching that really works and sticks because I address the underlying causes of problematic professional functioning. I have studied Sex Therapy at New York Hospital so I am very comfortable talking openly and candidly about sexual matters whether you are gay, straight, trans, or however you identify.

People seek out therapy when something in their lives has become unmanageable. Maybe you are overwhelmed by a sense of anxiety, depression, or boredom. Maybe you find yourself spiraling over things that others deem insignificant. Maybe you struggle with a compulsion, substance use, or issues related to work, intimacy, or relationships. Whatever form it takes, therapy offers you a chance to speak freely about what troubles you. By talking to someone who will listen closely and without judgment, you may find ways out of painful repetition and into a more vital, authentic life.
