I specialize in treating sexual disorders, couples in distress, OCD, scrupulosity, anxiety, trauma, and depression.
If you’re looking for help, there is a good chance that you've felt overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings, or felt lost in your relationships or life itself. I collaborate with each individual and couple, helping them feel understood and seen, rather than jumping to any quick-fix solutions. Using principles and skills drawn from both skills based and compassion focused approaches, I strive to help clients learn more about their underlying values, sense of self, and patterns that have played out in their lives. Through this process, we work collaboratively to develop the skills and insight to move towards fulfillment and purpose.

I have extensive training in CBT for anxiety and mood disorders, particularly Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
We all have potential to be great friends, romantic partners, family members, or workers. But we all encounter roadblocks such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and other stressors that impact our mental health, which can make it more difficult to engage these roles in the way we'd want. Sometimes we feel lost as to how to maneuver around these roadblocks. I want you to know that you don't have to walk this path alone. In working together, we will focus on developing the skills to help you overcome these roadblocks, so that you can be the person you truly want to be.

In addition to working with everyday concerns and life transitions, I have extensive experience helping individuals struggling with issues of PTSD and complex trauma, anxiety disorders, OCD, emotional dysegulation, and mood disorders.
It is my belief that anyone can benefit from psychotherapy as we all have unique concerns influencing our daily lives. Working in a safe and comfortable environment, I can work to help you know yourself better and to live your life the way you want. We will work collaboratively to explore and understand the psychological roots of emotional suffering by focusing on self-reflection and the examination and resolution of inner conflicts. I can help you to explore and modify your patterns of thinking in order to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and to improve coping with daily struggles.

I work with pre-teens, adolescents, and adults with concerns including procrastination and unwanted habits, low self-esteem, generalized and social anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, depression, and interpersonal difficulties.
As a clinical psychologist, I help people identify and achieve their goals, attain relief from troubling symptoms, and effectively manage life's stressors. I approach treatment from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) lens, viewing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as entry points to making tangible improvements to your day-to-day life. I emphasize nonjudgment, respect, and accountability, aiming to create a space where you feel safe and empowered to do the work required to reach your goals. Equally important, I focus on helping you to develop systems to maintain those gains long after our work together is complete.

Do you struggle internally with obsessive thoughts, imposter syndrome, and crippling self-doubt? Are you paralyzed with distressing and intrusive thoughts in your head that cause you to doubt your own character? You may be constantly asking yourself - “what does this thought mean about me?” or “if I’m feeling this way, maybe it is a sign that xyz……”. You present to others as self assured and sociable. You pride yourself on being a sensitive friend, an eager employee, and an attentive partner and value the relationships with the ones you love. But you struggle with ruminative thought patterns.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
