My experience lies in treating adolescents and adults living with eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, and trauma. Given that our relationships with others and with ourselves are often at the core of these concerns, we will examine both in our work together. I have also witnessed how gender identity, sexuality, race, and culture can impact self-image, and strive to be an inclusive therapist who can help you explore these connections.

I believe that the foundation of effective therapy is the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. Without that, there is no way for trust to be built and no progress to be made. I specialize in treating adults who are struggling with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and those experiencing infertility. I work with individuals and run groups. I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist, facilitating a number of groups. I know that change is not easy. I am dedicated to helping my clients create the life they've always wanted, and living it to their full potential.

While NYC has much to offer, one can get caught up in the challenges and hardships that come along with the fast-paced and exhilarating life style. Whether you’re struggling with relationships, jobs, or having negative thoughts you just can’t seem to redirect, know that you don’t have to untangle them alone. It takes a great deal of courage to seek help, and doing so is the first step towards change. As a therapist, my role is to establish a secure and nurturing environment that allows for vulnerability, risk-taking, and discomfort in order to fuel self-exploration and promotes healing.

Unspoken hurt finds insidious ways of impacting our daily lives and expresses itself in symptoms. Psychotherapy is a relational process where we can unpack these symptoms to clarify your struggles in living, while we identify a path forward that feels satisfactory. When it comes to circumstances that are beyond control, grief and acceptance might be at the forefront of our discussions. As your therapist, my goal will be to create a safe and understanding relationship with you where we will cherish curiosity to find new ways of being in the world, with more compassion for yourself and others, increased ease and clarity.

It's natural to encounter obstacles when navigating life. Whether you are enduring difficult life transitions, trying to make sense of your experiences, or weathering tricky interpersonal relationships, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Therapy is a space to work towards clarity in an empathetic, thoughtful, and authentic manner. Looking at ourselves in the context of individual, interpersonal, and cultural cycles allows us to more clearly understand our life experiences and internal reactions.

Welcome to my page! I am committed to providing therapy that is both compassionate and practical. Some of my patients seek therapy to address a concrete issue such as the dissolution of a marriage or relationship; others come out of a more abstract sense that something in their lives could be different or more fulfilling. By exploring and defining their personal values, we will work together take the necessary steps in developing richer, more rewarding relationships and lives.

For me it starts with you, not a diagnosis. Wherever you are in your life, it is easy to feel stuck and overwhelmed. I will listen. Together we will go on a process of a deep rooted self discovery that can lead to a life lived more free, creative, successful, and unapologetic within yourself and in your relationships with others.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
