Are you struggling to pour into your own cup? Maybe you are feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed and wondering when you will get a break. It can be so difficult to juggle all the things and prioritize ourselves, often while wearing multiple hats every day. If you can relate, you are in the right place. Here, you will have a safe, judgment free space where the focus is solely on YOU. A place where you can learn more about yourself, your strengths, life experiences, and what you may want to change or do differently. Whatever your goals for therapy may be, you are in the driver’s seat.

It’s time consuming to sort through profiles; and for that I am so glad you’ve found your way here. I can be there to support you where you’re at right now. Therapy can feel overwhelming; maybe you've asked- where do I start? That is super common! Therapy is more than talking; it’s a safe, healing space filled with both laughter and tears. It’s all welcome and all part of the process. I enjoy working with individuals who may be navigating difficult relationships—whether that be family, romantic or something else! Navigating conflict or life transitions can be tough on our own; at times we just need a little extra support.

Do you spend most of your free time overthinking about how you’re going to get everything done? Does the thought of relaxing stress you out and feel like the idea of relaxing is an impossibility? Do you fear telling others “no” because you’re afraid of letting them down? You’ve probably always taken pride in being able to figure things out on your own, but for a while now it’s been feeling like you don’t want to keep living your life this way. It’s becoming exhausting. I get it, but it doesn’t have to keep being this way. That's where I come in!

Sometimes we find ourselves overwhelmed with personal expectations at school, work, and in relationships. We may develop a fear of making mistakes or decisions, worry about being disliked, have guilt for taking rest from productivity and feel not good enough compared to our peers. If it feels like too much to work through on your own, that's okay we all need to ask for help when feeling stuck. I know you have the ability to make changes as you have already started by looking for support!

Life can be difficult. There’s no denying this. And, at times, life can seem even more difficult. Have you been feeling sad, stressed, worried, confused, frustrated, angry, or at a bit of a loss? Perhaps you’ve experienced, or are facing, a transition in life (e.g., a break-up, divorce, loss of a loved one, medical challenge, retirement, engagement, marriage, etc.) that is leaving you feeling any number of ways. Or maybe you're feeling a certain way and don't know why. If so, you're likely looking to find some peace, clarity, understanding, and support so you can live a happier, healthier, and more authentic life.

Anxiety, depression, guilt, childhood trauma, unresolved experiences of loss, abandonment, or betrayal, are only a few possible explanations for what may stand in your way of achieving a sense of self-fulfillment, satisfying relationships, and a sense of security. Through psychotherapy, you can gain a better understanding of the underlying issues which compromise your ability to get what you need and optimally use your potential. These issues can be effectively worked through to ease their grip over your emotional well being and enable you to gain better control over your life by making better choices.

I want to congratulate you on taking the first step towards healing, change and acceptance. Choosing a therapist can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be that way. As a prospective client I want to partner with you in your journey of self- reflection; affirming and knowing that you have made the best possible investment into yourself. I work with individuals (adults and teenagers), as well as couples. During therapy I work with clients collaboratively to build healthy coping mechanisms, learning how to deal with life’s stressors.

Life can be hard but it can also be beautiful. I utilize a compassionate and integrative approach to psychotherapy. I seek to help clients generate positive change in their lives and am a believer in the power of our thoughts and current narrative, the mind-body connection, and that our environment and life experiences greatly impact our lives. I believe that through developing self-awareness we can better understand who we are and what holds us back and by practicing self-compassion and acceptance we can navigate our path forward.

In the blink of an eye, the world has changed overnight. You may be struggling with insomnia or moods that upset you and that are damaging your intimate, family, and peer relationships. Recent changes in society and your living situation may have triggered life transitions which have sorely stretched your ability to cope. You may feel stuck in a repetitive cycle, making the same mistakes over and over without understanding why and feeling powerless to make productive and positive changes. Maybe you feel traumatized or that choice has been taken from you and you are grasping at regaining some semblance of normalcy in your life.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
