The best way to get things done is to simply begin. It can be overwhelming not knowing where to begin. It can also be frightening to reach out to someone you have never met who you will be sharing your deepest thoughts and feelings with. I provide a comfortable and safe atmosphere for my clients in order to ease the transition into therapy, and throughout the therapeutic journey. By taking the first step seeking out therapeutic assistance, you are already on the path to improving your mental health.

Hello and thank you for viewing my profile! I enjoy treating a diversity of clients, from teenagers through seniors. Most have issues of anxiety, depression, stress-management, identity, ADHD, bipolar disorder, relationships, life changes, family, grief, school, or career. I am very LGBTQIA+ allied. I am easy to talk to and non-judgmental. I love helping people uncover their untapped strengths and resources, and to assist in guiding them through life's many difficulties. I consider my practice style to be Eclectic, meaning that I draw from several theoretical orientations, and utilize what best fits each client's particular needs.

I believe life experiences are the greatest teacher. We go through many life challenges, difficulties, heartaches, but we should never forget the smiles, laughter, joy that come before or after those challenges. I am more a half glass full kind of person but I am pragmatic. I believe that the hard times can be really hard and if we need to cry, we should cry, be angry, be hurt, allow all the emotions to occur and feel them. The trick is to come out of those emotions with a new perspective so that we can grow and find our true self.

Every person has had difficult moments in their life. This is one of the things that bonds us as human beings. We all have things in common, such as feeling the same emotions, dealing with similar situations, or having similar ways of thinking. Though we share these commonalities, each person has their own experiences that are unique to them. This is the perspective I take when it comes to my therapy practice. Each client brings their own unique set of needs and experiences, which needs a unique and individualistic therapy approach, different from the next client.

Being human is hard. In addition to daily challenges, many of us weren’t shown how to feel and express our emotions, or how to communicate effectively with others. We may not have learned what healthy love looks and feels like, or how to care for and accept ourselves—because often, our caregivers hadn’t learned how to either. As a result, we often find ourselves experiencing painful emotions such as shame, anger, longing, worry, or hopelessness. Therapy is an opportunity to explore our experiences with curiosity and kindness, allowing us to gain insight into, make meaning of, and heal from the burdens we carry.

Anxiety is an experience that can make us feel isolated and misunderstood. When other's advice seems to be to try harder or push through, we can feel as though we are doing something wrong. Chronic worry or phobias can divide us from the things we most want to accomplish and take the joy out of what we most value. My role in therapy is to provide you with guidance, warmth, and practical, realistic tools towards genuine understanding. Therapy is a place to lean in and face challenges in a safe environment.

Therapy should not only focus on relieving your symptoms and distress but is also about building greater capacities for dealing with life's inevitable stresses and anxieties. I believe it is important to actively collaborate with you to find out what it is you want from therapy and to periodically evaluate the progress toward these goals. I look to tailor each person's therapy to their specific presenting problems and goals so that they will be able to feel better and feel more capable in facing life's challenges.

Perhaps you're feeling stuck, worried or afraid. Maybe you've never felt heard or understood. Maybe you've reached a point in your life that something doesn't feel right or something has to change and you're just not sure what to do. If this is the case, then talking it through in a safe space is the next step. I believe beginning therapy is a courageous step toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the best life possible, no matter what challenges you may be facing. My goal in therapy is to help you find healthy and safe ways to heal and alleviate symptoms that have proven to be problematic.

As a therapist I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviors. Together, we will work on finding all of the “ingredients” to make the sweet lemonade to enjoy! Life can be extremely hard at times. I believe it is important to acknowledge the feelings we feel and not be ashamed. It is okay to cry, be sad, angry, scared, etc. Together, we can determine the next steps so those feelings don’t need to stay long. Therapy will provide you with new perspectives and tools in your toolbox, so you can enjoy your lemonade even on the gloomy days.

I have 25 year’s experience working with substance abuse, anxiety, depression and mood disorders. I focus on incorporating wellness into your everyday life, which is important for both adults and teens. I focus on building a good rapport and listening effectively by creating a positive and supportive environment. My approach targets building internal strength and resourcefulness. Understanding that dynamics of emotions and behaviors greatly impact our lives and relationships is a primary therapeutic goal. Structured therapy sessions should allow people to assess their choices and find solutions in a validating setting.
