I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with postgraduate training who has been in private practice in NYC and Westchester for 22 years. I work with adults, individuals and couples, and I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression and relationship issues. My orientation is psychodynamic but I utilize an eclectic approach and various treatment modalities, depending on the personality of the individual and the issues presented. I am a licensed psychologist with over twenty years experience offering individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy from both my NYC and Scarsdale offices. When I worked in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, I made it a point to meet with patients before reading their chart. As a clinical supervisor of graduate-level social work students, I emphasized the importance of listening without the cloud of a diagnosis and repeated histories. Emotions need to be heard, whether in the form of fierce opinions or protective language. This can happen, in conversation, if the therapist is able to shed or expose known competing biases.
