In addition to EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IFF, and EFT.
The sage Lao Tzu said, "At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want". There is a deep drive inside of us to form meaningful connections to ourselves, to family, and to community. This is a journey you do not have to take alone. My clients have come to me when going through such life changes, crisis, burnout, the end of a relationship, or a major job shift. I help them navigate these rocky waters and provide a safe haven for them to be seen, heard, validated, understood, and - if need be - challenged.

My approach is goal-oriented and integrated – pulling from multiple disciplines like Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solutions Focused Therapy. While keeping the individual’s needs in mind, an intentional humanistic approach remains at the forefront. Ultimately we’re going to need to have a meaningful relationship if we’re going to create change.

My counseling style is based on a culmination of different interventions (cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic, motivational interviewing, etc.
Let's work together to overcome the stressors that have been burdening your life. Therapy by no means solves all the issues we face day to day. What I do is help you find the strength that you have always had, but has been buried by hardship. This happens to all of us at some point, and it is at that moment that we need help. Help is the service I provide, and am happy to do so. So, let's work together to find your strength, and overcome your adversity.

I can help you to make sense of these experiences and make the changes you want. While I work with clients on a range of concerns, I have extensive experience working with people who have endured abuse or neglect, as well as with people of transgender experience and LGB folks.

Trevor gets his hands dirty, so to speak. He builds a strong rapport with his clients so that together they can determine the best therapeutic approach (CBT, EMDR, mindfulness, psycho-dynamic, solution-focused, etc). The client is always in the driver’s seat. Sometimes our truths are hidden from us and it is beneficial to have a side-kick to help us learn how to utilize our experiences, strengths, and hopes to benefit our overall well-being.

I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy to process negative core beliefs, Motivational Interviewing Techniques to resolve ambivalence, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to process traumatic memories.
Trauma impacts all areas of life. We may experience sudden, intrusive memories of childhood experience. We may struggle to manage our own children, and we may have problems connecting with others and building healthy relationships. Psychotherapy can help you re-frame your experience, and assist you in identifying, clarifying and prioritizing your values and coping skills, opening the door to a more meaningful life.

I am trained in CBT, Motivational Interviewing and EMDR, along with various treatment interventions around trauma.
First off, congratulations on taking the step on this journey. I'm super excited that you have chosen to be on this journey and look forward to this adventure together, if you choose me as your therapist. :) A little bit about me: I am a social worker with background in substance abuse and mental health. I really enjoy meeting with clients and working towards their "aha moments". Therapy is a safe space to grow and "let down your hair" so to speak. I never want our time to be a power struggle/dynamic but rather a place where you can speak your mind and not feel judged. Trust me, I can be pretty quirky too.

I practice through a lens of self-compassion, attachment theory, intergenerational trauma, narrative therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Are you struggling to let go of past hurt or are you stuck? Are you struggling to move forward from a past relationship? Do you keep choosing the wrong partner, but you don’t know why? Are you feeling single and shame? Are you feeling alone in your pain? Is shame, anger, low self-esteem, resentment, sadness or anxiety holding you back? Do you notice that you’re engaging in the same maladaptive behaviors as your parents? Do you want to better understand who you are and why you cannot break your patterns? Do you need new tools to help you cope with the challenges of life? Allow me the opportunity to support you

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
