We focus on healing intergenerational cycles of traumatization and violence.
My group practice specializes in the treatment of trauma spectrum disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative disorders, trauma-related pain, and trauma-related somatic symptoms. Ongoing experiences of verbal, physical, or sexual abuse, neglect, and bullying can lead to these symptoms. Sometimes people suffer these effects because they have experienced chronic invalidation. We treat couples, people in non-traditional partnerships, and adolescents who struggle with emotional and behavioral problems. We also treat survivors of sexual violence and targets of workplace bullying.

As a trauma-focused somatic psychotherapist, I help clients find relief, restoration and empowerment.
If you struggle with inner conflict or feel disconnected, inadequate or lost, there may be deeper roots to address. Anxiety, depression, relationship issues, feeling pressure to conform to outer expectations and neglect your own truth, all could stem from past trauma. Complex trauma, familial or systemic, can lead to internalized guilt, shame or self-abandonment. You may feel confused, resentful, tense, hopeless or shut down. Yet, you are not doomed to stay stuck in this difficult loop. Healing is possible and can illuminate a path to more self-acceptance, authenticity, and better relationships with others and especially yourself.

I have particular interest in working with LGBTQ+ people; immigrants; children of immigrants; neurodivergent people; and survivors of childhood trauma.
Do you have trouble figuring out what you truly want in life, or how to get it? Do you struggle to understand why you act, speak, or feel as you do? Do you fear that you may not always make good decisions? Maybe you are often overwhelmed by strong emotions—or maybe you have a difficult time feeling anything at all. Maybe it seems like there is something essential missing from your life: intimacy, confidence, vitality, motivation, self-compassion, growth, peace. Maybe you have lost touch with who you really are, or maybe you want to know yourself more deeply. Therapy can help.

Upon establishing a secure and trusting connection, I help clients understand the neurobiological aspects of trauma, which can relieve the burden of responsibility they often feel.
I specialize in providing integrated EMDR to LGBTQ+ youth and adults, who are struggling with complex trauma and feeling disturbed by painful past experiences. They most often feel like they are a burden, incompetent or often find themselves endlessly ruminating over worst case scenarios. Therapy is initiated when they realize that they are ready to stop spiraling and begin experiencing a sense of grounding and connection. There has been an acknowledgement that they do not have to stay stuck. Their desire to feel confident, secure, and live authentically outweighs the fear to work through their pain.

My practice is neurodiversity-affirming and I have training in IFS and AEDP, a trauma-focused somatic-based modality.
I am passionate about supporting people on their journeys of self-exploration, empowerment, and healing. While this journey looks different for everyone, therapy provides us with a unique opportunity to learn more about ourselves: our identities, the people and places that have shaped us, and life experiences. I have deep respect for the courage it takes to show up for ourselves in this way and believe we can do so with curiosity and compassion.

I work with clients of all ages whose therapy goals may include improving general mental health, forming healthy attachments and relationships, or minimizing the effects of anxiety and trauma. When it comes to therapy, one size fits one. Some people benefit from a sustained dive into their past, their relationships, or their place in society. Others are more interested in finding solutions to personal problems in the present. For many clients, using music in the therapeutic process allows them to fast-track and optimize the emotional work they need to do before they can make meaningful changes in their lives.

I specialize in working with first generation individuals to help one better understand their sense of self in relation to their culture. We explore the family dynamic, cultural values and expectations throughout the life cycle. I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with navigating the feelings of both "belonging" and "not belonging" to a culture, and its impact on one’s sense of self. Using a relational and narrative approach, I help clients understand and heal from the effects of generational trauma and family enmeshment, while also helping them forge a relationship with their own unique story.

I earned my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University and have extensive experience working with individuals in the BIPOC and South Asian diaspora, immigrants, children of immigrants, as well as survivors of gender-based violence and trauma.
Embarking on the journey of therapy can feel overwhelming, but I'm here to navigate it with you, offering gentle guidance every step of the way. I firmly believe in your expertise regarding your own life experiences, and my goal is to collaborate with you to foster self-awareness, facilitate change, and help you achieve your personal goals. Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, which is why I integrate techniques from diverse modalities such as behavioral, relational, and psychodynamic approaches, always through a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive lens.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
