I have over 30 years experience working with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly incorporating a combination of CBT and mindful techniques in order to help navigate through all aspects of life. My role as therapist is to help facilitate in the journey, perhaps beginning with a neuropsychological evaluation to help determine cognitive function, implement an individually based treatment plan to gain better understanding of and influence navigating the bumps in the road, and gain a better understanding of life's issues.

What is child therapy? Do children sit and talk over their problems like adults do? How do I know if my child needs professional help? And, what kind of therapist is best suited for my child?
Most adults have a hard time understanding that children, especially very young children, can be in need of psychotherapy.
In my private practice, where I specialize in the treatment of children and adolescents, parents bring children of all ages to me with a variety of reasons for their anxiety or depression. School related issues are quite common. Children who struggle with learning and attention deficit issues are prone to lowered self-esteem, often accompanied by behavior issues at home or in school. These children may also have developed problems making friends. Other children I see are feeling the effects of a transition or loss within the family. This could pertain to an illness, death, separation or divorce of parents, even the result of a parent's depression.

Experiences of overwhelm, hardship, and imperfections are inevitable aspects of life, and too, they have beautiful qualities. They create atmospheres to understand imbalances and what is essential more deeply, both in ourselves and all those around us. When viewed as entry points to insight and peace, we can begin to feel some relief and sense of possibility. Rather than hindrances, we begin to see stepping stones on a path to greater awareness, healing, stability of mind amidst changing life conditions, compassion for our suffering and that of others, and joy.

Sometimes we lack the energy and confidence necessary to move forward in life, engage with others in a meaningful way, and feel joy. The foundation from which we grow and learn shapes us and affects all aspects of our lives including how we participate in the world around us, the way in which we give and receive love, our ideals, hopes, dreams, and our sense of self. My understanding of theoretical concepts and treatment modalities, and my experience working with individuals with varied mental health disorders enable me to support your unique needs. I will give you compassionate care to improve your wellbeing.
