I am trained in the Gottman Method (the gold standard for couples therapy), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
Navigating life's challenges can feel like traversing a winding road alone, but it doesn't have to be that way. As a therapist, I understand the courage it takes to seek support and the vulnerability that accompanies sharing your innermost thoughts and emotions. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a deep respect for your unique journey. Together, we can create a safe space where you can explore your feelings, confront obstacles, and uncover your inherent strength.

You feel ready to take the next step to heal from the past and live a life that makes you proud and joyful. Whether it’s improving your sex life, managing anxiety, wanting to love yourself more, dating and all that comes with it, improving an existing relationship, or (most likely!) a combination of all of those, you need compassionate support. You want to have a deep understanding of yourself and build tools that will help you to make a significant shift in the way you experience life. It’s time to move forward, away from repeated patterns that don’t work for you, and towards empowerment, peace, and healthy relationships.

Maybe recently your life hasn’t been going the way you envisioned. Maybe you are struggling with a new challenging situation in the face of a big change. Maybe a relatively small issue has become what your daily life is now centered on. Or, maybe you can’t put your finger on what is bothering you, but you haven’t been yourself lately. It can feel like “no one knows how this feels”, or “things could get worse”, but it can also feel like “I’ve already wasted so much time”. You are here and I want to be the first person to welcome you in taking the first step toward finding whatever it is you are looking for.

I am passionate about exploring relationships as those are often areas that require work and am trained in the Gottman Method which ties in well with trauma approaches.
Do you find yourself feeling like you are never enough, no matter how hard you try? The pressure of showing up in every area of your life is making you anxious, frustrated, and burnt out. Do you wonder who you really are as a person, outside of your roles? Does your romantic relationship feel like a constant struggle and the only thing keeping you going is the nostalgia for what it used to be? I believe we would be a great fit if any of these resonate with you. I aim to go on this journey of self-exploration with you and create an individualized plan for us to focus on various areas of your life to identify and work on your goals.

I have taught masters level classes, delivered presentations on couples and family counseling, and am specially trained in Gottman Method Couples therapies.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), couples and families usually come to me because they are already aware that something needs to change. Understanding that relationship dynamics create the need for treatment, I work collaboratively with everyone involved to transform those dynamics. When working with clients to solve the problems they face, I use an inclusive approach, keeping in mind that everyone brings their own unique knowledge, perspective, strengths, and resources to their situation. I’m committed to using my understanding and expertise in mental health and relationships to help clients achieve their goals

With training in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, I can help you and your partner identify challenges, practice skills and reconnect with one another.
Raising well adjusted children and keeping your marriage healthy and strong is more challenging than most people expect. In our fast moving and highly competitive environment, it can be extremely challenging to maintain healthy self esteem, strong connections and perspective. Sometimes we feel lost, disconnected and alone. When life hurts, it is possible to turn our conflicts into opportunities for connection. Allow me to help you identify and break the negative patterns that are threatening your relationships.

Gottman Method Therapists

How does the Gottman method work?

One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?

Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?

Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
