Struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma can leave us feeling isolated and out of control. These feelings can be so overwhelming but you do not need to continue this stressful cycle! Therapy can help give you the space to finally be heard and take back control of your life. The therapeutic process can assist in learning more about yourself and of the dynamics within relationships with those closest to you. Together, we can work towards breaking down defense mechanisms, automatic thoughts and maladaptive coping to help you begin to move forward with a new outlook.

I help children, teens, and young adults to feel empowered and create balance in their everyday lives. Struggling with trauma, transitions, or overwhelming emotions can feel depleting. A combination of art psychotherapy incorporating various treatment approaches may offer you the tools needed to tackle the obstacles you are facing in your life. I view the dynamics of our therapeutic relationship as if we were driving in a car together. You are ultimately the driver- hitting the brakes, pressing on the gas, changing direction of the steering wheel, and most importantly in control of the car.

I have a trauma informed practice that is client centered and is focused on utilizing one’s strengths.
Our Childhood, history, and personal myths about ourselves are powerful forces that have the ability to shape our interpersonal relationships and behaviors; worldview and ourselves. At some point, we have all experiences, challenges or life altering experiences that will have the ability to change our trajectory, bring us to a cross road or that will challenge our core beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. Through my work with individuals, families and couples I have enjoyed helping others to navigate these obstacles in order to transform these adverse experiences into opportunities of growth.

I have a focused study in trauma and stress related issues and work with clients who struggle with addiction.
I want to thank you for taking the first step in your therapeutic journey. Whether you're new to therapy or returning, welcome. It can be so difficult to first acknowledge challenges that we face and then ask for help with those challenges. Creating a non-judgemental, inviting space for my clients is my number one priority. If you're struggling with interpersonal issues, mental health related concerns, substance misuse, or traumatic past events, I'm hoping to provide assistance in your journey.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated or stressed? Is it effecting your sleep, work, motivation, personal relationships, or feel like you are stuck in a rut? Is it impacting other areas like your sex life, drinking too much, or turning to other unhealthy outlets? To make it worse, you feel all alone because anyone you talk with passes judgment or says that you are wrong for how you feel. How would it feel to find help from someone who is non-judgmental, will truly understand you, and be there for you every step of the way no matter what?

I am a dedicated clinician with the mission to help others recognize and reach their potential by promoting their emotional and mental well-being. Resiliency is a skill that I emphasize throughout treatment. For some the need for crisis intervention or need for short term solution therapy is appropriate. Others need long term, psychodynamic therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy. The chosen modality is always tailored to the needs of the client. "Choose your attitude, choose your life."

The Corona Virus has wreaked havoc on our lives. While we have come a long way from the early days of the pandemic, fears of contracting the virus are still present. Some may be grieving the loss of a loved one who died from the virus. Healthcare workers, doctors and unformed service personnel witnessed the unimaginable. Prolonged quarantine put stress on families and marraiges. If you are experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, flashbacks of what you experienced, you are not alone. You don't have to deal with the aftermath of Corona Virus by yourself. I am here to hear to get you back on track and life again.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
