My clients are struggling with anxious and depressive thinking and are looking to process traumas and experiences in order to fully examine their current situations.

Drawing on multiple therapies (like IFS, DBT, SE), Eastern, and Western philosophies, I help people navigate gender, sexuality, trauma, grief, feeling stuck, unsatisfied, and life’s demands by creating a warm, inviting space.
Embark on your hero's journey with a therapist who stands as your steadfast guide through the labyrinth of identities, relationships, and complex traumas, especially in LGBTQAI2+, BIPOC, kink, trans, GNC, sex-positive, ENM, and poly communities. You're over feeling stuck or tired, yearning for someone to help reclaim your contentment, self-fulfillment, and wholeness. You deserve a competent, confident ally with the skills and wisdom to navigate this quest holistically—mind, body, and soul—and won't settle for a guide who can't embrace every facet of you. Welcome home, dear human, to your journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

I am certified in LGBTQ-Affirmative CBT and have experience using IFS, Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed therapy.
Therapy can feel like an elusive concept, one that supposedly provides a solution for emotional struggles if you do it the “right way.” I believe in an individualized approach to therapy, because there is no “right way”; there is only the way that makes the most sense for you. In this regard, I may use different modalities, but more importantly I will use what I learn about you to help us collaborate effectively on your mental health. I have experience working with a diverse range of people, including the LGBTQ+ community, current and former sex workers, and both adolescents and adults.

She uses a variety of evidence-based practices for trauma and overall well-being, including, but not limited to, IFS and Somatic Intervention techniques.
Worried? Emotional? Indecisive? Many situations unexpectedly throw us off-track and we feel we can’t handle it, our emotions, our daily tasks, or all of the above. This can happen while in college, a job, with family members, or any relationship in your life. If you’re feeling this way, it’s normal. Therapy takes the edge off and helps you bring a sense of calm and balance back into your life, helping you pursue the life you envision.

My practice is influenced by object relations theory (basis of attachment theory), liberation psychology, CBT, and IFS/parts work theory.
I am a first generation Iranian woman living in diaspora, which has given me thoughtful insight into the challenges of connecting to cultural identity; having come from an immigrant family has opened up my ability to connect with a broader demographic. As a writer and musician, I have a particular knowledge and understanding of other creatives, bringing a further empathetic perspective to our sessions. I am sex and body positive, and have an expansive view of sexuality, gender and relationships. My goal is to build a space where my clients can feel free to be totally themselves without fear of judgment or shame.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
