I utilize Trauma work, DBT, CBT, art/movement.
My clients want to work with me to achieve their goals and resolve any conflict they are experiencing in their life. I enjoy working with clients experiencing depression and anxiety, OCD, addictive behaviors, eating disorders (specialize), difficult life experiences, trauma, ASD, medically compromised family issues, chronic mental health issues. I truly enjoy helping my clients with grief and loss so that they can move on from grief while holding onto their loved ones/or things. I like family involvement or family work because I look at barriers as a family of origin issue and a family goal, not just the “identified patient”.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT).
“Fitting in allows you to blend in with everyone else, but being different allows you to be yourself, to be unique, and to be more creative.” – Sonya Parker. Do people often comment on how different you are? It's okay to be different and unique; it helps you embrace self-acceptance. I firmly believe that everyone’s path in life is unique, and it's up to us to discover how to navigate it. Sometimes, life can be challenging and feel like an endless series of obstacles. Together, we can overcome these obstacles and stay true to your path.

My main goal in your treatment will be to foster physical and emotional safety, to allow an open discussion of the issues and the best way to address them.

I don’t believe that one size fits all, so I make sure to utilize a combination of skills such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
The first step is always the hardest, no matter what you’re struggling with. I believe that with the right tools and mindset, you can make some serious changes to the way you live your life. I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who struggle with ADHD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, grief, relationship complications, and LGBTQ issues. In my practice, I make sure to create a safe, welcoming, judge-free environment where you are free to be yourself.

I love using all of my life experiences, degrees, and trainings to best assist you in living your best life; CBT, DBT, mindfulness, emotional resiliency, and Havening Technique (Registered).
Asking for help can sometimes be daunting. No matter the situation, reaching out to a mental health practitioner can help you get clarity about your life. Sometimes genetics determines whether you suffer from anxiety, depression, or stress; sometimes it’s life circumstance, and yet other times its childhood experiences. Regardless of the cause, therapy can provide guidance and support on your path to well-being. Suffering can occur whether you have a diagnosis or not; whether you are smart and successful, or whether you have financial stability. You deserve to live a life of meaning that is balanced.

Drawing from a blend of evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), I offer a compassionate and empathetic therapeutic environment.
Many individuals seek therapy when they're in a place of uncertainty, not quite feeling like themselves. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by depression, anxiety, or relationship issues. Or maybe you're struggling with stress, trauma, or parenting concerns. You don't have to go through this alone.

My approach is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.
If you’re looking for help, there is a good chance that you've felt overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings, or felt lost in your relationships or life itself. I collaborate with each individual and couple, helping them feel understood and seen, rather than jumping to any quick-fix solutions. Using principles and skills drawn from both skills based and compassion focused approaches, I strive to help clients learn more about their underlying values, sense of self, and patterns that have played out in their lives. Through this process, we work collaboratively to develop the skills and insight to move towards fulfillment and purpose.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
