I believe we can all agree that we want to have happy, healthy, and satisfying lives. Unfortunately, sometimes obstacles hinder us from achieving the outcomes we desire. Whether it be anxiety, depression, intrusive ruminating thoughts, or alcohol/substance abuse, mental illness is REAL and can affect anyone. If you are struggling; however, have the motivation to collaborate, identify your needs and goals then let us (together) get to work.

I have experience working with a wide variety of issues including substance abuse, codependency, divorce, parenting, physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, stage of life issues, crisis intervention, self esteem and school/employment stressors, etc.
Relationships can be one of the biggest blessings and also one of the biggest stresses in your life. It's amazing how quickly life can get in the way of our relationships and cause chaos in our lives. We have obligations, responsibilities and demands that we have to keep up with, while putting in work to create a successful relationship. It can be exhausting at times and things can fall apart quickly. Therapy can be helpful for not just the couple or family, but the individual. This profile is for a group practice.

Aside from that, I have also worked with adults in outpatient mental health settings dealing with various mental health disorders and substance abuse challenges.
I believe everyone needs therapy at least once in their life, as there is no way to be prepared for every situation that life may throw at you. If you're experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma reactions, parent-child strains, school stress, recovering from an abusive relationship, navigating narcissistic relationships, life transitions/adjustments, family conflicts, low self-esteem, body image concerns, and disordered eating, then I can help.

I offer informed therapy for people emerging or waking up from high demand groups and coercive relationships of all kinds. You will not spend months teaching your therapist about the way coercive groups promote isolation and fear. We can deal with the long-term effects of religious, cult or domestic violence indoctrination in how we think about the world and about ourselves.

My first experience with therapy, was as the client. After surviving a traumatic event, I sought help from a therapist. Therapy proved so helpful, it was then, that my passion grew. While most of my experience has been in private practice providing individual therapy, I have worked in a county mental health clinic, an inpatient psychiatric setting and a residential group home. At the core of distress, we may find some form of unresolved shame, guilt, trauma, abuse or loss. I am here to provide "a safe place" to process those hurts, while helping you increase self-awareness and gain skills to lead a more fulfilling life.

I have a broad knowledge base and work with those impacted by trauma, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, gender transition, sexuality, maternal mental health, child behavior issues, parenting issues and more.
Accepting in person clients in Baldwinsville in November 2024. I believe everyone is deserving of processing their emotions in a place that is safe, non judgmental and met with compassion and empathy. Working on ourselves is some of the toughest work we can do and the most important. It’s important to allow ourselves grace as we grow through the varying seasons of our lives. This growth happens in children, adolescents and adults and is always evolving. I'm honored to be able to hold space for you or your children to do this work.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
