My ideal client would be willing to work with me systemically, meaning someone willing to look beyond themselves and think, “Why is this happening?” instead of just thinking they are the problem. For example, if someone is coming in to work on depression and anxiety, my ideal client would be willing to explore the underlying issues contributing to the depression and anxiety instead of someone who is only looking for coping skills and such.

While I draw from relational, psychodynamic, internal family systems and cognitive behavioral approaches, I find that the therapeutic relationship itself is key to healing.
Fred Rogers said, "What is mentionable, is manageable." I consistently find this to be true. Our thoughts and feelings can seem insurmountable when they stay in our minds and there is something wonderful about how verbal release can be powerfully unburdening. I love helping people find relief, clarity and hope.

I have extensive experience using CBT, IFS, Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed therapy.
Therapy can feel like an elusive concept, one that supposedly provides a solution for emotional struggles if you do it the “right way.” I believe in an individualized approach to therapy, because there is no “right way”; there is only the way that makes the most sense for you. In this regard, I may use different modalities, but more importantly I will use what I learn about you to help us collaborate effectively on your mental health. I have experience working with a diverse range of people, including the LGBTQ+ community, current and former sex workers, and both adolescents and adults.

I integrate 3 treatment modalities into my practice: psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Taking the initial steps to begin psychotherapy can be intimidating but the process of therapy has the potential to transform your life. Survival skills that may have helped us in the past may have become an obstacle to thriving in the present. This may contribute to feeling stuck in painful relationships, unrewarding jobs and struggling with depression and anxiety.

IFS and EMDR are unique therapy models.
Trauma is BIG...and small. It comes in many forms and at all stages of life. Do you sometimes have flashbacks to events that happened long ago? Do certain words, objects, people or places trigger you? Do you wonder if perhaps something that happened that you can't forget was a traumatic event? Do you wonder if you suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Did anyone ever tell you they think you have PTSD? I use a combination of IFS, EMDR and Brainspotting to help you resolve PTSD, life conflicts and severe stressors. Take the next step to see if an All Day Intensive is right for you or regular hourly sessions if that works best.

I use extensive EFT and IFS training, at the core of all the work I do.
Have you tried learning strategies and tools to help you manage better, but you have been frustrated by something getting in the way? You can transcend blocks, to then use tools and strategies effectively. You can gain access to your innate calming, understanding, capable, loving, self-confidence. Sometimes there are roadblocks that need to be removed or wounds that need to be healed in order to proceed. Let's make roadblocks such as anxiety, depression, addiction, impulsivity, and trauma into steppingstones! Don't let it define you. Let's define it, understand it and make way for opportunities and a better future.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
