Dr. Carrie Ernhout is a psychologist, a licensed marriage and family therapist, a licensed mental health counselor, and a registered yoga teacher. She has considerable clinical experience across multiple settings and enjoys working with adolescents, adults, and couples. Carrie tailors her approach to each client based on their needs, goals, and unique strengths. Practicing primarily from a psychodynamic framework, she may draw from various therapeutic interventions based on your particular needs.

During my fifteen years in the field I have worked in many different settings and with diverse populations. I have worked with people of all ages from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life with many different types of problems. I have seen a lot, and no matter what you are dealing with, I want to help. You don't have to deal with your problem alone.

I am a Clinical Social Worker licensed to practice in New York practicing since 2000. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have experience that includes work with children to geriatric populations. I have helped clients dealing with a variety of issues such as: depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, relationship issues, health issues, trauma, and to process end of life discussions. I hope that each session my client is able to see things about themselves or their life differently. Learning ways to manage life's challenges in ways that are helpful each session. I am open-minded in my work with you towards achieving your goals.

I believe in a person’s innate ability to find meaningful change and growth in their lives. Sometimes this can come in the form of making changes, finding greater balance, or exploring ways to cope with life's stressors. Modern life can drive disconnect between where we find joy and our everyday lives. Therapy can be a safe place to explore who you are, what drives you, and how you can better cope with the stress life brings. I have experience working with individuals, families, and groups of all ages and diverse backgrounds, and have extensive experience treating depression, anxiety, grief, finding purpose, and life changes.

My first experience with therapy, was as the client. After surviving a traumatic event, I sought help from a therapist. Therapy proved so helpful, it was then, that my passion grew. While most of my experience has been in private practice providing individual therapy, I have worked in a county mental health clinic, an inpatient psychiatric setting and a residential group home. At the core of distress, we may find some form of unresolved shame, guilt, trauma, abuse or loss. I am here to provide "a safe place" to process those hurts, while helping you increase self-awareness and gain skills to lead a more fulfilling life.
