This solution oriented therapy works well for marital, family, parent-child, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and phase of life issues.
I will be offering periodic updates. I hope that this will be helpful to you and familiarize you with my thinking. For divorcing parents: Make sure your children know you are divorcing each other and not them. Be dependable - visit when you say you will. Keep your children out of the middle - argue in private. Take your time introducing someone new or living with someone. When possible maintain connections with extended family. Work on yourself so you are the best parent you can be. Children take time to adjust. There may be a delay before they discover feelings about the divorce.

Because I view therapy as a collaborative process that assists clients in finding their own strengths and resources, I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients to reach their goals, whether it is becoming a better parent or a self-assured adolescent.
I am a developmental psychologist and a licensed marriage and family therapist. I specialize in children, adolescents, parenting, co- parenting, and family systems. I believe that each member of a family impacts every other member, so when issues arise in one member, each member is affected. I place a high importance on communication within a family to help them to improve family dynamics. Issues in an individual or a family can arise at any time, so clients will graduate therapy with the skills they need to conquer future stressors.

I work with clients over the age of 18, but also provide parenting coaching for those looking to support their child.
Have you ever experienced a nagging feeling of constant worry or intrusive thoughts that you just can't get out of your head? Perhaps you experience a constant stream of "what ifs" for all of the possibilities that may happen or repeatedly check things to try to limit the anxiety you feel or prevent something bad from happening. Or maybe you are the parent of a child who experiences these symptoms, and feel powerless and unsure how to help. These feelings can be totally overwhelming, defeating and exhausting, and can get in the way of you living your life. You don't have to keep struggling with anxiety or OCD alone.

I've trained in Functional Family Therapy which is a strength-based approach to viewing the family as a whole and seeing that all members serve a purpose in the family, not blaming the parent or child, while improving communication and relationships.
Are you thriving or surviving in your life? Sometimes it can be difficult to cope with life's challenges and it's difficult to communicate emotions, thoughts and feelings. I can help deal with these issues by listening without judgement and help you, your child, spouse, family member or friend cope with them on a daily basis so that you can thrive in your life. I have been working with children, adolescents, families and adult for 13 years.

My mission is to provide mindful parents with the data, tools, coaching and insight they need to enhance the parent-child bond.
What is a “mindful parent,” exactly? A mindful parent is the one that asks: how do I know that what I am doing is preparing my child mentally and emotionally for an increasingly complex future? How do I optimize the relationship I have with them right now to better ensure they become an adult that is empowered not entitled, self-reliant and compassionate, curious, and competent in a world of increasing artifice? Those are great questions and, luckily, we have the answers. Developmental research has identified ways you can enhance the parent-child relationship to prepare your child for a more secure, autonomous adulthood.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
