I offer informed therapy for people emerging or waking up from high demand groups and coercive relationships of all kinds. You will not spend months teaching your therapist about the way coercive groups promote isolation and fear. We can deal with the long-term effects of religious, cult or domestic violence indoctrination in how we think about the world and about ourselves.

Core Energetics is a dynamic system for personal growth, healing, and transformation. Together we work to unblock your innate life force through the use of movement, breath, voice, and other techniques. You gain greater understanding of what makes you tick. This understanding opens up more choices about what you create in your life. When your energy is blocked, your body and personality suffer. When your energy is flowing, long standing patterns shift. You have more clarity, purpose, pleasure.

I bring over twenty-five years of experience to my therapy practice, and have helped clients achieve life-changing results. I provide effective therapy services to those who have been affected by painful life experiences--large and small, recent and long ago. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, losses, or stress, we now know that painful life experiences are what underlie most symptoms that have been labeled as mental health disorders. I ask what happened to you, since our beliefs about ourselves are affected by trauma, and by the messages that significant people in our lives send us with their words and behaviors.

I treat patients with erectile dysfunction, anorgasmia (the inability to orgasm), sexual pain, and other psychophysiologic sexual concerns. I also love working with couples, individuals, and polycules with relational challenges. Sometimes our challenge is not the way we relate to the world, but the way the world relates to us, so clients who are asexual, demisexual, sapiosexual, monogamous, or polyamorous are always welcome in my therapeutic space. Your relational (sociosexual) orientation is important! I also have an affinity for working with the BIPOC and LQTBQ+ community, as well as the kinky and neurodiverse.

The recovery & healing process is a journey; it is a privilege for me to share in the work with clients & walk along with them during their transformation. I work collaboratively with clients to develop treatment goals; creating space for clients to be in the driver's seat of their process. Forming trust & safety in the therapeutic relationship is key. I look forward to engaging in therapeutic services with clients who are motivated and willing to be emotionally invested in their treatment process, including exploring the underlying roots of trauma (childhood trauma/ abuse, combat/military, domestic violence, sexual trauma/MST).

I do not see my job as telling you what to do, but to help you quiet the noise that gets in the way of hearing your own voice. In our work together, you will find support and patience as you walk through whatever cross-roads life presents in front of you. You will have the freedom to explore yourself, your life and your experiences. I believe that everyone I work with is the expert on their own life so for this reason, I feel the best way to serve my clients is to work as a mirror; assisting people in transformation through reflection. Powerful healing and change occurs with the felt sense of being truly seen and heard.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
