They need a supportive environment to openly explore their emotions and thoughts, and they seek practical strategies to manage and overcome their challenges. Their primary goals include achieving emotional stability, enhancing personal relationships, and fostering personal and professional growth. They aspire to understand themselves better, make informed decisions aligned with their values, and develop fortitude to handle future challenges with greater independence.

Everyone tells you how impressive you are. Your coworkers are always asking for your advice and praising your accomplishments. Friends wonder aloud how you easily maintain such a beautiful home and happy family. Your life seems perfect (but “seems” is the operative word.) The truth is, you feel like you’re barely holding it all together. That shiny, flawless veneer hides a far darker reality. You're constantly burdened by a deep sadness and overwhelming anxiety. You live in fear that you’ll be exposed as an imposter. You desperately want to tell people how you’re feeling, but how could they understand when you seem to “have it all”?

As a performance and counseling psychologist, my passion is to help people reach their potential and make long-lasting change. I collaborate with my clients to work through life challenges and painful experiences in a way that allows them to let go of suffering and take control of their well-being. Worries about the future, your preformance, one's relationships, and busy work life can interfere with becoming the fullest version of oneself. In working with me, my clients can improve their capacity to experience the joys and healing that life has to offer while not feeling controlled by anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.

Coping with painful thoughts and feelings can be an overwhelming and lonely experience. However, you don’t have to manage these struggles alone. I specialize in treating adults with anxiety, OCD, and trauma, as well as working with caregivers struggling with anxiety, OCD, and trauma during pregnancy and the postpartum period. I approach treatment using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)—all of which are goal-oriented, evidence-based treatments.

My psychotherapy practice is informed by formal training in contemplative and psychodynamic therapies, valuing health and wellness. My framework is a natural outcome of my own ongoing therapeutic work and developing spiritual practice, allowing me to more fluently move between the spiritual language of love and compassion and the psychological language of emotional distress and resiliency. The focus is on the here and now, understanding that your early developmental experiences affect your present feelings, mood, and behavior, often masking your natural capacity for well-being. Those experiencing life changes, challenges, transitions, such as loss and grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, divorce, work-related issues would benefit.

I integrate various techniques from psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, somatic and trauma informed therapies and individualize my approach to your needs.
Are you feeling less confident, less capable than you once did?   Are you feeling alone, ashamed, confused, off balance, guilty, anxious depressed, fearful?  There is hope. Sometimes in life, we enter seasons or face unexpected events that overwhelm our ability to cope.  Our old ways of navigating through life are no longer working.  These life events can be something you had hoped for and dreamed about that either didn’t pan out the way you expected or have stirred up unexpected thoughts and feelings.  It might be a traumatic event, the loss of a relationship, or a major life transition such as the birth of a child.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
