I specialize in anxiety, trauma, and women's issues.
You're tired and life is coming at you fast. You start to notice that you can no longer roll with the punches like you used to. At the very worst, you are sleep deprived, your anxiety is numbing, and you feel like a hot mess. Sometimes you don't recognize the person in the mirror. All the while you wish you could bounce back to your old self, someone who could power through the stresses of daily life without skipping a beat. I'm here to tell you it's not too late. Together we will envision the life you want, create a plan to get you there, and work through the roadblocks. If you're feeling overwhelmed and under pressure, let's talk.

Are you feeling stuck and disconnected from yourself? Are you working to change old habits and self-sabotaging behavior? These women's issues can manifest into depression, anxiety, or a state of consistent stress or low self-esteem. Women experience many disruptions during their lifetime and during the creation of their self-hood. It may feel like you have lost yourself and lost your sense of identity. Women also experience an overwhelming sense of emotions. For women of color, the pressure to reconcile racial identity, language, economic disparities, and bi-cultural obligations can create feelings of sadness and powerlessness.

I help clients who are experiencing anxiety, ADHD, self esteem issues, grief, women's issues, trauma and PTSD to heal deeply.
Do you feel stuck, despite being highly self-aware? Have you tried talk therapy before and it felt nice to vent, but it didn’t really create the transformation or deep healing and relief from anxiety you were looking for? I help millennial women like you by using a holistic approach to therapy. I combine EMDR therapy, art therapy, IFS therapy and somatic practices like nervous system regulation to heal at the root of your issues, discover what you want out of life, and create lasting changes. I also offer EMDR Intensives for those who want to heal NOW and don't want to spend months or even years in the traditional therapy model.

I specialize in working with couples, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ issues, grief/bereavement, and women's issues.
Since the age of eight, I have regularly attended counseling, and it saved me. Decades later, counseling has become my calling--my desire to share the techniques that help us cope with the forces in our lives we cannot control. As a natural advocate of mental, physical, and spiritual health, I also teach yoga regularly. I believe that we reach a state of peace, when we take our lives into our own hands. My mission is to help you build your individual strength, gain insight, and develop effective ways of coping with life and relationships.

I have been trained in a variety of different approaches that address women's issues, depression, concerns about substance use/abuse, chronic pain, trauma and boundary issues.
Do you ever feel irrelevant or disconnected from others you care about? Do you feel overwhelmed with too much to do, or not involved enough with things you enjoy doing? Do you ever feel isolated or empty? Do you stay in relationships too long or not long enough? Do you have difficulty asking for what you want or what you need? Do you ever feel like you are constantly getting more than you are getting? Do you want to make some changes but feel stuck? "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced". James Baldwin

Are you having having relationship problems or overwhelming stress? I am a psychologist and psychoanalyst with an interpersonal/humanistic approach who specializes in relationship problems, couples therapy, women's issues and gender identity concerns. In individual therapy, clients discover the causes of their distress and find ways to feel "real" and "alive" in the world. Self-defeating patterns of thoughts and behaviors are identified and re-evaluated. More realistic and helpful perceptions, attitudes and behaviors can then emerge. Couples therapy emphasizes respectful communication and listening techniques. "Hearing" one's partner as well as expressing one's own distress becomes important.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, career related issues, life transitions, existential crises, relationship challenges, grief, self-esteem and women's issues.
Life often presents stressors and challenges that can be overwhelming to face alone. I believe that asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do. Together, we can create a safe collaborative space to navigate life’s complexities, fostering understanding, resilience, and personal growth. It is a privilege to be invited into your inner world, where I employ an anti-oppressive, client-centered, strengths-based approach that prioritizes acceptance, empathy, compassion, openness, and humor.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
