If you’re just beginning the divorce process, struggling inside a relationship, or rebuilding afterward, I’m here to help you take the next step.
Navigating high-conflict divorces and complex relationship struggles can leave women feeling overwhelmed, fearful, and filled with self-doubt, uncertain about how to move forward. Some days, it takes all of our strength just to put one foot in front of the other. It’s tempting to operate on autopilot just to push through, thinking, “I’ll process everything later.” We prioritize everyone else above ourselves, especially if we are mothers, and our self-care falls by the wayside. It’s so much easier to focus on everyone else than ourselves.

I have worked extensively with individuals and couples experiencing rupture and repair from infidelity, relationship changes including separation and divorce, and changes to the family unit, such as the birth of a child or illness of a family member.
Sometimes life’s hard moments don’t pass as quickly as we wish. This can be especially felt in the context of relationships with those whom we care deeply for: the connection may begin to feel stale; communication breaks down; one person’s growth doesn’t always align with another and relational dynamics may change.

For many couples, I'm the last stop. They've been to so many therapists already that they wonder, "Why would you be any different?" It's simple: I've been there, done that. In addition to my extensive training, I understand firsthand what you're going through - whether that's dating life, an engagement, a brand new marriage, a struggling marriage, a divorce, or blending families. I know what it takes to get through it and come out stronger on the other side. And I'm proud to say I have an amazing success rate with my clients.

Therapy clarifies what has and hasn't worked in one's life. Together we will find a way to make your desired changes, so you can live a more fulfilling and authentic life. I provide a compassionate and honest environment in which you can feel heard and deeply understood. Guiding clients to discover their truths is, in large part, how I see my role, throughout which feelings around intimacy, loss, shame, and anger are often central themes. Couples counseling, addiction, divorce, co-parenting, sexual identity and sexual dysfunction issues are some of my specialties.

I have come to accept that the very thing that causes pain in our lives can be the opportunity for transformation and joy. Death, divorce, loss of employment, and now with Covid-19, are unavoidable human traumas. We simply can not defeat these losses. What we can do is bravely embrace our frailty and slowly discover our inherent well-being and resiliency. Through a trusting therapeutic relationship, you can begin to mend the fragments and feel the soft strength within you.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.
What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.
When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.
How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
