I am an LMSW and CASAC (chemically addicted substance abuse counselor) who specializes in trauma, empowerment and interpersonal relationships.
As a person who struggles with day to day stress, you feel tired everyday. It seems you have tried everything but nothing works. Do you feel the same scene playing out in your life over and over again, but you have the inability to change the script? Do you feel powerless in managing intolerable feelings and even more consumed in trying to figure out why you feel this way? My belief is that trauma is the root cause. Most trauma generates from a past or current relationship and can be healed. Even the most severe trauma can be healed.

I became interested in grief/trauma work after my first year of professional employment when I recognized many people suffer from some form of grief.
Are you overwhelmed? Are you consumed by grief? Are you struggling to make it through each day? Do you often find yourself feeling guilty, depressed, resentful, angry, hurt, or lonely? Thoughts, emotions and memories make up a large part of who we are, and if we have been traumatized, damaged, or broken, we may isolate and become trapped inside. A heart can heal and a spirit can recover with compassion and understanding. I will be honored to work with you toward your healing.

I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive behavioral therapy and working with family systems.
The first appointment will involve an evaluation of your needs and goals. What you hope to accomplish will direct the course of treatment. As we work together you can expect to gain better self-understanding through thought-provoking dialogue and reflection. The therapeutic process sometimes requires talking about difficult subjects or having challenging conversations so compassion, honesty, and respect will be guiding principles during those times.

I am a trauma-informed provider supporting individuals and couples navigating grief/loss, conflict, trauma and transition. I am passionate about supporting folks identifying with neurodiversity (eg. eg. autistic, AuDH, diagnosed with ADHD, etc ). Clients I support often struggle with the impact of stories about who they "should be", questioning, "Do I matter?" or shedding pieces of themselves to create a sense of belonging. Understanding our stories is one of the bravest things we can do. Together we can explore yours, identify your values and strengths, and pursue healing and growth.

As a therapist trained in various modalities I have chosen to specialize in trauma and working with LGBTQ+ and polyamorous folks & clients of color.
As a Black femme, disabled, poly, LGBTQ person I have firsthand experience navigating the difficulty finding a therapist who can understand those intersections. Whether you are navigating grief or unpacking a life filled with trauma, the goal is to determine what kind of life you want to live and then the necessary steps to get you there. Peace, love and belonging are attainable with the right tools. I foster a responsible space where you can feel seen and heard.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
