Hi, my name is Christine Bellise and as a Licensed Social Worker for over 20yrs, I have seen teenage girls struggle to deal with challenges such as comparison culture that negatively affects their body image; the stressors of school life; and friendship drama. As a Teen Life Coach, I help teenage girls navigate the demands of adolescence. By providing support in a safe environment, your teenager will gain new strategies and skills to maintain healthy relationships; increase confidence; manage stress; and make positive decisions.

I often work with folks who have experienced trauma in their life, and enjoy working with young adults and teens who find themselves trapped in patterns or relationships that make them feel stuck. One of my favorite things to work through with my clients is feelings around shame and self-worth, I believe this is where the beginning of self discovery and self healing begins. As a therapist, I do my best to meet my clients where they are, I want you to feel in control of your own healing. We will work on things like boundaries, self-esteem and learning how to listen to our pain without feeling overwhelmed by it.

It can seem scary to talk to someone about your struggles in mental health. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and judgement-free environment for you to express your concerns. A space where we can work together to facilitate growth. I aim to build an empathic relationship for you to know that you are seen and heard. As an Asian American myself, I value different cultural backgrounds and strive to work with your culture.

Making the leap to find the right therapist, setting goals to improve your life and letting yourself be vulnerable to make those changes are brave tasks. As a therapist, I prioritize creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space to help you to explore emotions, gain insights, learn coping strategies, and to work towards improving overall quality of life. I believe in utilizing an integrative and client-centered approach in an effort to best meet your needs.

If you, or someone you know is going through a tough time, talking to someone is one of the best possible things you can do. One of the advantages of talking to a counselor is that they do not know your friends, your family and they do not have opinions about how you should be living your life. It can be easier to open up and tell me things you might not tell other people. You do not have to worry about being judged.

I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a collaboration. I do more than just listen; I provide honest and helpful feedback while supporting your goals and values. During the therapeutic process, you will gain a deeper understanding of what you want out of life and develop skills to help you attain it. You will know if you are benefiting from therapy based on how you feel and act outside of our sessions. You will start to see yourself consistently making choices that move your life in a positive direction, even in the face of difficult and painful emotions.

This stress of the last year was unimageable.. But life has a way of presenting us with unexpected or chronic challenges often leaving us feeling anxious, depressed, lonely, confused and frustrated we can't seem to change it. With over 25 years experience I welcome the opportunity for us to work together to help you successfully work through these feelings and bring your life back to where you want it. I have extensive experience working with addiction, both with individuals suffering from this disease and those family or friends impacted by it; relationship problems, and changes in life circumstances.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
